Conquering THAT hill and A WINNER!

Sunday T and I ran our 8 plus up the killer hill to practice for the next weekend's race! T didn't bat an eye when I wanted to extend our run to give it a try.  She's seriously the best running partner ever.
Starting up the hill

Closer to the top

Almost there......

Conquered and on the way back down.  (T did it too, I
don't make her just take photos.)

We are ready!  It is not an out and back race. It is an up and down race, first one and then the other. I certainly should be able to negative split.

When I got home it took me hours to warm up before I headed out for my bike ride. I rode 12 miles and was not happy that I was at the same speed as the day before. I expected to be faster.  It was once again a hilly route but of course I had downhill as well as uphill.  I had a good workout nonetheless and feel pleasantly tired. I had a great Mother's Day- two workouts, some lazy time, a barbecue cooked by my son who came home for the day, a wonderful chocolate chip cookie from Fresh Market- slightly undercooked and delicious.  My husband put up the Medal hangar that he gave me for Christmas!  I guess it is a two holiday gift.  And now I am relaxing again.

Monday I ran after school with a lady I should run with more often.  My first two miles were so much faster than I usually run.  My first mile could have been a race mile.  She kept going to do 8 but I was only doing 4 so I turned around. What happened to my speed?  It slowed way down.  It was sunny and temp was great but it was as windy as I ever want to run in.

I have read two different dates for National Bike to Work Day. One is this Thursday, May 12th.  The other is May 20th.  May 12th works for me so I will be riding on Thursday.  Anyone joining me?

And there is a winner................the winner of Running on Empty is Amy from Fit and Fabulous After 40.

That looks like a serious hill!! Your mother's day sounds just about perfect to me. I think you should push for a repeat of it next weekend! ; )

There should be a man at the top of that hill handing out certificates to anyone who can conquer it. Well done.

Way to conquer that hill!

I definitely want a medal hanger someday. I think I'll drop a few hints for my fiance (who will become my husband three months before Christmas) when the holidays roll around.

Way to go on kicking some serious XYZ on that hill!
I'm jealous of your medal hanger. I wish someone would give me that as a present instead of perfumes!

That hill looks very unfriendly. Way to beat it down! :)

Mmmmm...undercooked cookies. Love them!

Everybody is getting in so many bike miles and I've barely had any on mine. By the time I get home from work and make dinner, I feel bad leaving my youngest to go ride. I need to start taking my bike to work and riding somewhere before I get home. I know, I know...stop making excuses!

I was thinking bike to work day was the 20th. I was planning on riding that day, but then on the 22nd I have two different races involving bikes. Seeing as I haven't been on mine since March, I'm a little worried how that'll go.

Niiiiiiice hill there, Chica!! So cool you have a great friend in T to be there by your side!

I work about 1 mile from where I live (I know, lucky me) so it's not even worth my time to get all my gear...but I will pretend I live at John Elway's house and ride there after work; I'm certain he'll have dinner waiting for me!! :)

Wow - you are working really hard running up that hill and then going for a bike ride on the same day! Another run the following day too - it's great that you are back to such a lot of running after your injury.

What a perfect Mother's Day you had.

That's a serious hill you tackled. I don't think we have hills like that here in Holland and I'm very impressed!

Great job with that hill! And it sounds like you had a lovely mother's day. I thought my husband was the only one who took 5 months to get around to hanging things ;-)

Woo-hoo for hills - and a run AND a bike - you go, girl! A BIG yum on the cookies, too! Sounds like a very lovely day!

Well done on the hill! They make you strong. I find I have to practice down hill running just as much. You certainly have great running partners.

What a surprise! I am so excited to have won the book - thank you!!! I will blog a review of it when I've read it.

I got my mom one of those medal hangers for Christmas - she has it hanging by her bed.

And - great job on those hills - sounds pretty hardcore!
