Great Island 5K Pre Race

I still have not totally accepted doing a race and not racing it at all this weekend.  I believed I had done this race twice in the past so I thought I would check out my times.
The first time I did this race I was a walker and had not run a step yet. I was a decently fast walker.
2002 as a walker  I was 73/84 in my age group but remember this was a running race, no walking division.  I was pleased to beat any runners!
35:35 was my time.

2003
I started running - Sept. 14.
This was a few weeks later.
27:12
10/41 in age group.
I ran Bridges 4 Friendship in 2004 and 2006- a 10K - GREAT race - which went on part of the Great Island course. It no longer exists sadly.  In 2006 I was 1st in my age group.  In 2004 I was 3rd in my age group. I have done some half marathons south of here and north of here but I haven't been to Great Island since the above mentioned races. It will be good to go back!

I am wondering if I should sneak my Garmin into my bag in case I decide to run.

But there are 1400 racers and the streets are narrow so regardless it will be  a slower race.

Here are some pictures I found of Great Island and the race.

Leave your Garmin at home. I would enjoy the race and the scenery... looks like a beautiful course!

Take the Garmin...just in case. :)

Wow, you're a fast walker! It took me longer than that to walk 2 miles with the dog tonight.

I am just catching up with your posts and can't believe you're going to miss Patrick Dempsey!!! Oh no!!! But I hope you have a great time anyway with your colleagues - and whether you decide to race or walk, hope it goes well.

So curious: Didja change races for a chance to see/run/touch PD, hee, hee?
Hope you had a good one, whatever the case.
Cheers

I'm guessing you ran, how could you not?

No race? Why?
However I never leave my garmin at home. I can enjoy the landscapes and the races with it. I have learned this lesson only this year.
