The start of the race.....
The Santa 5K is a great race that is not really about racing. Everyone shows up and I am sure for many people it may be the only race they do all year. This year there were almost 2000 entrants so it was way too crowded to go fast and get a best time. Maybe if you are used to those kinds of crowds you figure out a way but I don't know what it is. We did have chips so your time does reflect your time from start to finish. I forgot to shut off my watch when I finished and the results still aren't up so I don't know how I did. I also didn't look at the clock. I am not even sure if there was a clock.
Heading up Battery Hill you see runners way in the distance.
...at the top I stopped and turned around to take a pic
of the Santas behind me.
It was fun but next year I am getting a crowd of people to go with me. I don't care if my co workers don't race. They would enjoy this and my mission will be to get them there. I did see a couple of running friends I know.........twice! What are the chances of that! You can't exactly tell anyone what you are wearing and to look for you that way.
.......A Santa skirt and fun socks.
The literature says if you don't wear the exact costume they give you they will pull you off the course. That is so not true. I saw some fun variations. Last year I lost my belt part way through the race and just wore a belt I had this year that worked better than the Santa one.
The meal after may have been the worst post race meal ever. It was simply eggs, ham, sausages. Not what I was looking for at all. Last year they give us fun medals too but no medals either. They didn't spend the money on good food so what was up with that?
Jaxon loves me even dressed as Santa. He was VERY happy to
see me.
But if you're disappointed by the meal........go see your cutie Jaxon and you won't care at all! Perfect ending to a fun race.

Weird post-race meal!
I bet it's so cool to see all the Santa running. Love that Santa skirt, too! If that race was here, people would've been dropping in the heat. Temps in the 70's today!
They did the Santa run here this year a couple of weeks ago. I must say that the thought of dressing as a Santa in 30C temperatures just didn't appeal. But in your climate it looks like so much fun.
Love the hoards of people dressed in red - so bright and cheery! Too bad about the bummer meal, though.
Very cool pix! Sorry they didn't meet expectations this year.
we have a big one where i live that tries to beat the record of most Santas in a suit running. it sounds like a blast, but i always forget to register each year. worth it just for the free santa suit! silly though, but fun.
Such a cool race. We saw a bunch of santa clauses at the Baltimore Harbor on Saturday but I'm not sure what they were participating in.
Awww, Jaxon! My pups get really excited when their 'grandparents' visit too. :)
Looks like a merry way to start the Christmas season!
This looks hilarious and SO much fun!
i remember that race when you did it last year and I thought it would be an absolute blast. I'm digging the skirt, you need to do that next year :). Bummer about the food and no medal...seems like you get less and less these days for your race buck! But you do look really cute! :)
And what did Jaxson ask Santa for Christmas?
I love Christmas races! I'll run a 10km race with red outfit on December, 16th.
Those running Santas are the funniest photo ever! So cool. Thanks so much for sharing. The after race meal sounds awful. Who would want to eat eggs and sausage after running (Green eggs and ham, Santa I am??)
P.S. It's -4 at our house right now. I don't think Santa would even race in this, hee, hee.
Definitely not a PB race! Looks like fun though. :)
Wow, look at all those santas!
Looks like a fun race.
And, of course, Jax is the second cutest beagle of all time. Beagles definitely love sweaty parents. I read somewhere that animals don't get salt in the wild (obviously dog food probably has salt) but my nature they will try to find salt as it was rare in the wild. Justin and I turn into salt licks after we are done with our workouts, Zoey loves it.
