Now this is mud season

This email came from out town clerk yesterday.

Quaker Street is officially closed due to unbelievable MUD!  The road crew is desperately trying to find a solution for residents on that end.Dirt roads are especially bad all over, presumably because the frost got so deep with such little snow cover over the winter.  We ask you to kindly refrain from driving on the dirt roads for a while if you don't have to.  Extra traffic will make the conditions worse, and the residents on those roads will appreciate your willingness to drive around if you can.  Your vehicle will probably also appreciate it if you avoid the muddy ruts for a little while too.

It is not typical for our dirt roads to be closed during mud season.  Our road is completely dry as is our yard.  But when I rode my bike Sunday I did hit some pretty soft dirt roads but nothing like the picture below!

A woman I work with lives on Quaker Street and she told me her husband took this picture.  They got the truck out by hot wiring logging equipment that happened to be nearby. This truck was pulling sap to make maple syrup. I hope it was still usable!

Gripe of the day:

I drove all the way to Burlington tonight after a long day - aren't they all - for my swim lesson and the instructor didn't show up.  I like her but..........

And still trying to decide on full sleeved vs. sleeveless wet suit if you can only get one. I have a coupon code to use and may order soon.  Thanks!

Wow! That's crazy mud!

ok, wetsuit. I talked to the folks at REI and they said if you are doing tri's around here...Pacific Northwest than use a long sleeve. She made a good point about if you have short sleeve...you probaly don't need a wetsuit because it's warm enough.

Are you on FB? https://www.facebook.com/#!/SwimBikeMom

Swim/Bike/Mom just posted this question on her FB page and most people have said sleeves. I also heard chafing is bad on the sleeveless!

Our water here is always cold...regardless of the weather! I think the sleeves are needed for me.

Also they say the extra bouyancy in the arms can only help!

I agree on the wet suit comments. Full sleeve first. Sleeveless second.

I've heard of summer, autumn, winter and spring but never mud season. That's an impressive amount of brown goo. It makes me think it could be marketed as an exotic skin product.

OMG - I can't believe they got that truck out - it looks really stuck!

How frustrating the teacher didn't show up :-(

That's some serious mud Andrea.

How rude that the swim teacher didn't show up. She'd better had a good reason for not coming.

Your swim teacher does not have a cell phone???

How did that truck get in that far?

Holy cow! That mud is insane!

To answer your question, I got a full sleeve wetsuit. Mostly because that was what was on sale when I purchased.

And your NCIS comment cracked me up. Tony lives. No worries!

OMG, that's disgusting! Love the dog peeking out of the truck window though. Reminds me of some of my running trails back home in Missouri.

She could have at least called to cancel.....

That is some crazy mud! I hope they saved the maple syrup.

I like my sleeveless suit. I don't think you gain enough extra buoyancy in the arms to merit how much harder it is to get on and off! Plus I don't think I'll be swimming in waters cold enough to need the arm protection in that way.

Whoa that is some serious mud! You need to have a mudathlon or wrestling or something.
Boo on the AWOL swim instructor.
