Fright.......Loss............Elation.........Hope

Last week at the inservice at our local high school what did I see out in the hall? What do I not like to see even outdoors? What does not ever belong in a school hallway?  If you are thinking snake you are completely correct. Fortunately I was seeing it from the safety of my seat in another room but still.

I know that this is not a really bad thing on a scale but I have lost my favorite coffee cup.  In fact I think I left it on the table I was sitting at when I saw the snake so I am blaming it on the snake. I was so distracted I forgot it. I HATE losing a cup I really like.

Sticking with the inservice theme although I wasn't aware that was where I was going with this post I was talking to a friend I rarely see. He told me that I am the most athletic person he knows of our age. Okay. I'll take that as the compliment it was intended to be.  This friend was on a varsity team in every season as many of my friends were. I didn't make sports teams and was very envious of my friends in the varsity club which I could not join. I eventually got my varsity letter once a ski team was started.  That makes sense that I would get a letter in a sport that wasn't as much a team sport as a life long sport.
This friend was telling me what he is now doing to get in better shape looking at me for affirmation that he is on the right path.  I felt quite good and proud to be seen in such a way.

Last but far from least I had a very good first day of school.  I know it can be a "honeymoon" but I'll take it and hope to have more. I love seeing my kids from last year and meeting new ones.  Today they all worked well together.  A huge yay!

These days iced coffee is rocking my world.  It's my go
to treat after my afternoon workouts.

You're inspiring other people to be better versions of themselves. You do it to me and it seems that I'm not alone.

That last pic makes me want to sit outdoors and sip some iced coffee :) I'll settle for laying in bed and blog stalking I guess! I am right there with you that snakes NEVER belong indoors. I was visiting a friend in Atlanta a few years ago and one got into the house--I almost cried I was so hysterical. We ended up needing to go find a neighbor to come rescue us. I would be bummed about losing my coffee cup too! (And I agree, it is definitely the snake's fault.)

Iced coffee started rocking my world on the cruise and continued in Seattle and I've brought my daily coffee habit home.
I totally get the snake/lost favorite cup thing. I share your feelings about both.
Glad your first day back was a good one!

Very cool to know other people see you as an athlete and that you inspire them. If one person says it, there are countless people thinking it.

Glad you first day was good.

OK. Peel me up from the floor.... you said a curse word. You said or spelled out: S***E. Unbelieveable. Unfathomable. You have come a LONG way. ;-)

What a great thing to hear from your friend! I played sports through high school, but I was never one of the GOOD players. Still am not, but I love that I've found a world where my athletic exploits are valued bc of what they are instead of how fast or how they compare to others.

Yea for a good beginning of school! I have to say that right now my class is absolutely delightful. If it stays this year I'm going to love going to work this year!

What a compliment from your former classmate! And so glad to hear that your school year is going well - my boys start on Monday and I am hoping for another great year for them and their teachers!

I hate snakes too! I think it is why I am such a bad trail runner!

You always inspire me a lot. I actually like snakes. I grew up with snakes in the house and often see them on the trails.

Good Lord, snakes in the school. They would have to give me a huge raise to get me back in there. And even then, I would be looking over my back constantly. Glad you had a great first day. Hoping the rest of your school year goes as well.

Very glad you love your job and you enjoyed your first day of school. You are always an inspiration.
Often the snakes are less dangerous than some colleagues....

I feel the same way about snakes. No sports for me until my 40s and that was tennis. GL as you start a new school year.

I'd lose more than my coffee cup if I saw a snake! Have a great year!
