2. Smart....am I being smart now and listening to my body? Why yes I am. Thank you for commenting and telling me to listen to my body. I checked my blog comments several times in the last couple of days because I needed to hear others telling me not running is smart. I so badly wanted to run today. It didn't hurt like yesterday. But I had publicly said I would not run today and I didn't!! I do plan to swim tomorrow but I am not sure when the whole run thing will happen again. I have not been singing running's praises for quite awhile so I am amazed at how much I miss it but man I do. Johann said it best in my comments with yet another S word: "Even though it sucks big time it is still the fastest way back to full recovery."
3. Swimming....how I love you swimming! Your low "impactedness" allows me to get a workout in. I may not be any good but you don't care. Up and down the pool, up and down the pool. That's not the way to get better? Who cares! I am working out, I feel good when I am done, my confidence in swimming is building, I know I can do the distance and not drown and most important of all, you are keeping me sane.
And I'm aware that I am hitting the publish button on Wednesday, not Thursday, but in order to be sure there is room for me in our newly crowded pool I need to get up at a ridiculous hour and get there. No time to check Facebook, play Words with Friends or publish a post.

I sometimes think that running is never more attractive than when you can't do it. Just like naughty foods are more delicious when you're on a diet. You have to be smart if you want to recover quicker - it just goes against the grain to give in to our body's frailties.
Char is so right. When I was forced off my bike by my hand surgery and could only run, I missed biking sooo much. When I'm doing way more biking than running, I miss running. But maybe it's what you need a little to keep you hungry. At least swimming is there for you, crowded pool and all.
Haha, I'm agreeing with Char, too. When you can run you sometimes dread it, but when you can't, you become an angry person!
Swimming though...ugh. I can't seem to muster up the energy to go to the pool lately. Once I'm there, I'm find...it's getting there. Remind me I need to go swim tomorrow! :)
Hope the ankle heals soon!
"fine" :)
Good for you!
Swimming is always a great "Go To" workout when injured. Of course, I once injured my should and I was glad I had running as an alternative. Haha! Hey, thats the great thing about triathlon training. You always have something available.
Hope the pool wasn't too crowded this morning! I'm really missing cycling now, as my bike is broken. Just because I can't go for a ride, I really want to...
I'm glad you are still able to swim. Sending more healing thoughts your way.
Keep healing up and being SMART..something most of us running just are not at all.
The pic of your ankle...yikes....
Geeze! Your ankle. Just keep swimming! :) Rest and you'll come back stronger. We are a stubborn bunch!
NOT RUNNING is NOT FUN, but NOT RUNNING for a short time is better than NOT RUNNING for a long time because you didn't let your body heal.
Keep listening to the body!
Swimming saved me when I was healing. I wasn't able to do ANYTHING for a few weeks but at least after three, I could swim.
Healing thoughts!!!
Sorry that you got hurt!! Glad you are able to swim, at least.
I would ave paid to hear the "F" bomb. Not the result or cause, just to hear you say it.
Really? You enjoy swimming that much? I am this close to taking the plunge.
Glad you are being smart and healing instead of running. Have you tried aqua jogging?
Oh no!! I hope the ankle is feeling better, that looks bad!! Fingers crossed it's just bruised... :(
You will be stronger and better soon! take care!
Running is fun and freedom but swimming is always a good second chance or/and a wonderful cross training.
Get well soon.
Keep listening to your body. You're doing the right thing.
That ankle really was/is swollen! Wow!
Yay for swimming...it's my favorite, completely head clearing.
