Lackluster workouts

I managed to run 14 miles each of the last two weekends which is big miles for me these days.  It was 8 on one day and 6 on the other.  This weekend was spring like and some of the snow is disappearing. I just as soon it snowed some more but that sentiment is not shared by everyone (including my husband who plows us out.) I feel like I'm not doing a lot in the workout world but I'm getting in 7 workouts which isn't shabby.  The effort on the trainer is not at all comparable to all those wonderful long rides I was doing before.  When we were on our way to the movies today we saw someone biking but I didn't have any desire to jump out of the car and join them. The roads are icy in parts and covered with slush. So I'll keep up my mediocre training rides and call it okay for now.

I don't talk about my weight a lot on here but it is always something I work on.  This fall I ended up gaining about 15 pounds which I am not happy with.  I always gain some over the holidays but not that much.  So my son and I are in a friendly competition to lose weight and mostly encourage and support one another.  I won the first week!  He sent me a text telling me he won but when I responded with my loss my phone started pinging with messages. He had the nerve to call his mother a cheater, tell me my loss wasn't healthy and on and on. Then he admitted that I did a great job and that actually we both did!
I need to learn how to go "off" my diet without going crazy.  I want my clothes to fit and I want to feel better about myself.

Last but far from least I want to ask people to be thinking about my friend, Christa.  I posted about her in a post where I had to tell what bloggers were my heroes.  She has been battling breast cancer for 7 years and has had a setback. She always has the best outlook and lives her life to the fullest. I see her at races all the time.  At this time she can't run. Please send positive thoughts her way, add her to your prayer list... whatever works for you.

I agree. My thoughts are with Crista. Gl with your diet. I am afraid to get on the scale. A lot of over eating and minimal exercise have been happening in my world.

I'm hoping to run a bunch with Christa once she can, so maybe I'll see you at races too!

This is the time of year where the weather, in most parts of the country, forces us to scale back on our training. It is a natural time to let the body and mind recharge and rest in order to get ready for getting back to real training when the weather starts warming up and the days become longer. I feel this time of year is just kind of in a "holding pattern". Once you get back up to Full Speed Ahead, you will shed those pesky 15lbs that latched on to you! We will be praying for Christa's health - both body and spirit.

I too have some lbs to lose. Kelli and I walked 2 miles today. It felt great to be outside, even though I couldn't run.

I love that you 'chicked' Jameson in the weightloss race. Keep up the good work.

Doesn't seem fair, though, that you should have any weight to lose. Not with all the exercise you do. Seven sessions per week leaves me for dead.

My thoughts are with Christa...hoping she'll be back on the roads soon!

How nice that you and your son can support each other through this also :)

The weight thing...we already talked about that, so you know where I am on that. Right with you. At least we're back on track now!

I haven't set up my bike trainer. I'm dreading it, but I'll have the Super Century soon so I'd better get it together.

I'll be thinking of Christa and keeping her in my prayers.

I do hope Christa recovers and that you continue to show Jackson how it's done!

I think the way you are training through your winter is really good. You are doing well and the weight will come down again. Our whole family is having a "competition" to see who gets to their target weight for 2013 first. I will certainly pray for Christa.

Andrea 7 workouts a week is fantastic, there are a lot (including me) of people who don't do that.

It's always great if you have a "partner in crime" with this weight loss thing because it is already so hard to lose weight. Sharing it with someone makes it easier in my opinion.

You've asked about my WW recipes. I have three books (just ordered a 3rd because I lost more weight than expected and deserved a reward) and the rest of the recipes I get from their website. I have a online subscription on the Dutch program and unlimited access to all the recipes.

Calling Mom a cheater? Sounds like one son needs to have the switch taken to his behind!

Seven workouts a week is awesome in my opinion. I hear you on the losing weight though. I'm just trying to make better decisions regarding food and workout more often. It helps that my husband and best friend are motivated to go to the gym with me and are on board with some healthier recipes that I want to try. I've also been enjoying the myfitnesspal app on my phone for tracking calories and workouts.

I forgot to mention that I'll be praying for Christa.

Ha, I ran 6 and 8 miles this weekend too. 7 workouts is good!

I'll say a prayer for Christa.

Will be praying for Christa! I always gain wait between fall & Christmas, I hate it. But I always seem to get back on track in the new year, very frustrating to have to lose those pounds again. Congrats on winning this week, woohoo!

Nothing like little healthy competition to get the scales moving in the right direction. And your friend is in my thoughts and prayers. I'm in a similar situation here and know the power of positive thinking can really, really help.

I am always impressed by the amount of workouts you do, as well as the distance you bike and run. I'm sure the weight will drop off soon, as long as you are good!

Sorry to hear about Christa. Hope to see that she's up and running again soon.
