Three Things Thursday

1. I'm rethinking when I'm getting this week's workouts in. I'm thinking Sunday may not be such a great day around here.  So I will get up early tomorrow and run. ( I hope I do at least.) Tomorrow afternoon I will bike.  And Sat. morning I will run my long one. Then I will take an unusual Sunday off.  I need to get into school this weekend and get some stuff done as I am so overwhelmed with what I need to do.

2. Speaking of which.....I am in the middle of a bunch of in service days. Most of it is  devoted to Professional Development with some time being left to us to plan, work with teams, look up records, get your room ready and on and on.  It can be hard to sit through Prof. Dev. when you have so much you want to be doing in your room. It can be especially hard when you feel your time is being wasted.  This afternoon was particularly bad.  What was being presented was fine but it could have been done in 1 hour or less not more than two. It went on and on and then more stuff got added that wasn't even planned for.  I now know why sometimes kids bang their heads against the wall over and over.  I wanted to do that very same thing today!  Very very frustrating and it made me very grumpy.  Tomorrow I will arrive with a bright and shiny attitude because I will be working in my room on curriculum with my team, time very well spent.

3. I have a confession to make.  We all make choices about who we follow, who we don't, comments etc.  To me the best part of blogging is the back and forth and relationships that develop through these.  More than a year ago I was following a blog that I decided to stop following.  Once in a great while I go through the blogs I am following and try to clean it out. Sometimes I stop because I never hear from the blogger or I am just not that interested and there is only so much time in the day to read blogs.  Well.........my confession is..............that I stopped reading this particular blog because...............all she talked about was cycling!  OMG! What if people do that to me?  Now I would love to follow her blog but I don't remember it.  Who knew?

Ok, your confession is hilarious. But you know, I bet if you'd developed a relationship with her you wouldn't have quit following. I have to admit that I worry sometimes that my running readers will quit following me...somehow I'm not worried about you, though. :)

I think the biggest benefit of those long, boring inservices is that we get a very visceral illustration of how hard all that sitting can be on our students.

Oh that's funny. It comes to most of us at some time in our life that we do what we once ridiculed.

When I'd just graduated as a vet I worked at a surgery that allowed a girl to sew up her dog. I was told that this girl was a qualified vet but she worked as a sewing machinist and I thought that she was crazy to give up her profession to sew. Well, just look at me know. I gave up my career to sew and I love it.

Thank you...I was really not sure about posting that link. I'm not entirely sure which family members read my blog and wasn't sure I wanted that particular post getting back to my husband. It was interesting to reread it several years later in light of finding my own thing.

Truth be told, I started to follow you because you are Emily's mom. :) I've been around for a month now and love your journey. But now that I know you are a teacher too, I'm more intrigued! Love your blog and it is always good to clean out!

I BRIEFLY got to meet your lovely daughter today! She came w/ some NUUN'ers who were storing their luggage in my office. Those ladies are going to have so much fun this weekend! I'm looking forward to all the re-caps :)

At least you are good about cleaning up the list of blogs you follow. My list is very, very long even though I don't read half of the blogs on it. And then there are all those bloggers who stopped posting ages ago... Maybe I ought to do some cleaning up.
Have a good school year. Now that we are back from Poland, I am trying hard to get back into homeschooling rhythm.

Your confession is too funny! I guess you never know...

Sorry about the painful service days. Wasted time is SO frustrating.

We're supposed to start school on Monday here, but I think Irene may have other plans!

Haha, love your confession because I did the same! I need to do a cleanup myself.

Sometimes there is no connection, so you just lose track of that blog for whatever reason it is. We read a lot of them that we never comment on, too. Hope you don't get too much of that storm!

I had to laugh at your confession. Fingers crossed that Irene moves!!

Have a great weekend and I hope you are not pounded by Irene!

I think I'm going to do my long run this afternoon so I'm not running in the rain tomorrow and Sunday from Irene. Hoping it isn't as bad as they are predicting!

LOL, how things change! I remember when I used to skim through triathlon race reports (zzzzz) and now that's what I am most interested to read!

Good luck on all the workouts this weekend!

With wedding planning and moving to my new condo, I definitely skipped a few workouts because I just didn't have time for them. Sometimes you've gotta do what you've gotta do!

I have a core group of blogs that I try to follow regularly, although lately I wait a week or two or three and then try to catch up on all their blog entries at once. Some blogs I comment on only here and there. I'll be a much better blogger after I get married and things settle down around here!

hahaha, that makes me laugh. generally i only stop reading people if they start taking pictures of every morsel of food that goes in their mouths. :) stay safe this weekend!

LOL! I tend to stop reading if all people are talking about is product reviews. I do a few here and there but the relentless product reviews get to me =).

Stay safe through Irene, hoping it's not too bad for you and all those on the east coast.

Professional development is great when there aren't other things you want to be doing. I remember my Dad (a retired teacher) saying the same..."so much to do in my room!"

HAHAHA! I hear you..when I really first started blogging there was no way I would 'just' running blogs. Now look at me.
Hope Irene stays away!

Funny! I think we all probably do that ... you start following a blog then your interests change (or theirs do). Hope you get everything done that you needed to this week!

i do love blogging, but it is really hard to keep up with everyone. I am hoping with work under control I can do better...but yeah our needs and what we want change :)

I feel EXACTLY like you do about PIR meetings. I have so many things to do and I hate having my time wasted. I hate it when it becomes "chatting" time. I love to chat, but I think that should happen after the meeting so people can leave who aren't interested in the topic!

Good luck this weekend. I feel really fortunate to live where I do...just smokey here!

Confessions of a Blogger....I see a book coming out :)

That's so funny. I don't think I've ever stopped following a blog. I may not read them, but I just hate to stop following. It's like de-friending on facebook. It's probably good to clean out every now and then, but I just can't do it.

Oh that's just too funny!

I get overwhelmed. I have so many blogs I follow that I have to categorize them so I can remember things like "these are Oregonians" "these people are doing this race" "I have met these girls" etc.... I like trying to keep everyone straight, but it gets hard.

I always wonder if people will get sick of me babbling about Disney races or how much I love Vegas. I can't help it - I'm just a kid in a grown up body, I like vacation!
