Three Things Thursday

A beautiful sunset last night

1.  I stayed off my bike today. It was hard but  I had a run scheduled so I got out there and did it. BUT I have another run scheduled for tomorrow and my biking friend asked me if I could go biking again and I didn't even hesitate.........YES!  I don't know when I will fit the run in, it is a busy weekend with some more spectating coming up but I'm not going to worry much. I want another bike ride.

2.  Tomorrow is my last day where it is my choice whether I go into work or not. I probably will in the afternoon but next week there are no choices. I.........will...........be...........back.............at...............work.   No time for the distance of bike rides I have been doing.  It's going to be tricky but I'm going to find a way to keep running and riding.
Running with my daughter!
Look closely, she's crossing the bridge.

3. I expected to do my run alone today but Emily joined me much to my delight. If I ran with her more often I would get some of that speed back.  The fastest I ever was was a year I ran with her more frequently.  She is in town to participate in the USA Age Group National Championships.  So we will be back out there with our bright pink t shirts. Our wait  won't be as long as when we watched the Ironman but it will be  a fun day cheering our girl on for sure.
Same cast with a few more friends along

*I always like to throw one more in.  I just started a book I can tell I am not going to be crazy about. But I didn't get it from the library I bought it so I know I will finish it.  In fact I bought it twice - once at Target and once off Amazon.  Crazy. So I did return one of them but still I have to read the one I've got. Sigh.  Do you continue to read books you aren't crazy about?  I don't if I borrowed them or got them from the library but I often do if  bought them. Sometimes though I am doing so much skimming it is hard to believe I still know the story line.

No I can't finiah a book unless I love it. What is the name of the book? Good luck to Emily. And I have to say "Welcome to my world" where you have to schedule runs around work :(

I'm curious about the book, too? What is it? I always finish a book if I start it, though if I'm not into it, I might take forever. That's when I have six books going at once. I remember reading one of John Grisham's later books (Runaway Jury, maybe the one after that) and being so annoyed at it when I was finished that I threw it across the room. I kept waiting and waiting for it to get better...and waiting...

My sympathies on losing your bike/run time. I'm right there with you. My bikes give me dirty looks every time I go out to the garage to get a water bottle for school. :( And this weekend, which is a decent time for a long ride, is full of other stuff. Boo.

Being a teacher is cruel at times. Just when we settle into a great summer routine, we have to go back to work! Boo!

No, I can't finish a book I really don't like. I have read a ton this summer (mostly from my classroom bookshelves) and I found one I just couldn't read more than 4 chapters of. Ugh!

Generally I'll finish it if I've paid for it - unless it's really bad. I think I persist to see if it has any redeeming features and to see why it got published. But if it's borrowed - well, let's just say life's too short to be reading bad books.

I do the same with books as you do unless it is really bad...

If you have to be back in school next week then you are right to fit in as much long distance biking as you can! You can always get your runs in later, right?

Good luck to Emily!

And PS: those snacks sound like something I probably couldn't have in the house or I'd scarf them all down at once!!!

The books I am not crazy about I usually read at bedtime to put me to sleep. They work better then pills.

Ha, and there she goes biking instead of running...:) Not a bad thing I think... Training with faster runners is a bonus for speed. I don't finish books I don't like.

I have an idea, when you're finished with your bike ride, go run :) A nice brick! I'm sure all that biking is going to positively impact your running.
Good luck to Emily I'm sure she'll rock those championships...how cool that she is around to run with you :)

I think I can count on one hand the books I didn't finish...although when I get them from the library, I agree that I'm more likely to give myself a break if I'm not enjoying it.

Have fun this weekend cheering for Emily with your family.

I used to keep on reading if I didn't like the book but it always took long to finish it. One day I decided not to do it anymore: why should I? There are so many books to read, you can't love them all. So now when I really don't like a book I stop reading it and sell it again. This doesn't happen often however.

At least you had a very full summer! You don't have to regret wasting any time as you go back to work. ;)
Have fun cheering Emily on this weekend! Can't wait to hear all about it.

Oh no! the summer is coming to an end. I have to say you definitely made the most of it :)

Every once in a while I will stop reading a book in the middle if I am not enjoying it. Why trudge through it? Funny about buying the book twice, I tend to buy books with the intention of reading them and don't find the time so if a book strikes my fancy I'll forget I have it (wondering all the while why it seems SO familiar... perhaps because I already own it. ha ha).

Good luck to Emily this weekend - have a great time!

I no longer finish a book I'm not loving. Last year I bought a book that Oprah recommended. I actually barely made it through the first 29 pages and almost put it down for good, but then something hooked me into another 240 or so pages before I started to not like it again and so I stopped with like another 200 pages to go :-(
I finally sold it at a garage sale this summer for 50cent. Grrr.

There are WAY TOO MANY GOOD BOOKS out there to be read to waste your time reading something useless to you. I say pass it on to someone else!

I hope you are taking your last optional day OFF! I sure would :)

Slow books... I think they usually Pick up enough to where I can get into it. Sometimes though I do put it down for months before finally coming back to finish it. If its boring though - sell it too! No need to waste time.

love the pink shirts!

I used to read every book I started but no longer. But I do try to hang in there with it for a reasonable time to make sure it isn't a book that just starts off slow.

Good luck to Emily!
