DC - Endless Ways to Spend Time

What's a mother to do in DC while waiting for her daughter?  A visit to The National Gallery of Art is a great way to spend a couple of hours.
Since Em has been living in DC this was my third visit to this museum. I came as recently as March but had only gone to one exhibit then. I returned to the exhibit today and decided to explore some more.  My knowledge of art is not great but I certainly enjoy looking at it.  I decided to follow the museum's guide - if you only have an hour be sure to see these paintings.  I managed to find my way around without too much difficulty concentrating on finding the recommended paintings.  Once done I kept going and quickly realized my favorite paintings that I felt I had to see were not the ones on the recommended list.  I took some pictures amazed  that I was allowed to do this. I have been spoken to rather sharply at the Met before for doing this.  But everyone was doing it (and it said you could in the flyer) so I took a few pics myself.  Sorry for the poor quality of my pics.

Now I've walked back to meet Emily without getting lost. I find a shady spot with a breeze to read while waiting.  A lovely afternoon in DC.

Great day Andrea. I love "old" art instead of modern art. I love to see a painting at which I can see what it's about. Great photos.

Ah my favorite: French Impressionists!
Although there are some Mary Cassatts's in the mix too no?

Is the top a Van Gogh? I swear they found that very pic in someone's attic here in Chicago years back and it was all over the news. Either that or I've had too much coffee.

I haven't been to the art museums in ages. I run by them a few days a week though. I should really go inside sometime.

Fun way to spend the day - and the air-conditioning probably made it even better!
