Polar Cap 4 Miler Hopes

I have a race on Saturday and I don't really know what to expect.  I have had great treadmill runs lately but been so slow outdoors.  Races in 2010 had paces in the 9s for me with a couple of exceptions.  I have always placed in my age group at this race - they have 5 year age groups. I am hoping to place in my age group and be in the low 9s with a smidgen of hope of sneaking into the 8s.

The weather should be warmer than usual.  I have a friend going with me and there are stores to shop at after so all in all it should be fun.  No Targets in Vermont but there's one in Lake George!

Polar Cap 2008 36:03 2nd place AG
Polar Cap 2009 35:02 3rd AG
Polar Cap 2010 35:48 2nd AG
Polar Cap 2011 36:46 2nd AG

On another note.......was this the longest Friday ever?  I thought the weekend would never get here!

I say start in the 9s and then go into the 8s. This will give you a low 9 or high 8 average. You can do it!

Oh, it was the LONGEST day. Thank goodness for the weekend.

Good luck at your race! You know you're going to be way faster in a race than on a training run. Run strong, my friend! :)

I think you're going to do great! Do your best, start off strong and try to hold on.

To answer your question about the wetsuit and being a good swimmer or not...I am a comfortable swimmer, I'm usually solidly front of the mid-pack. Wetsuit will give you buoyancy and for a lot of people does make them feel stronger and safer in the water. I should have read this yesterday - it would have built up the pre-race tension. But I read it after I already knew the results. Way to go!
