Running Pop Quiz

I copied this Pop Running Quiz from Darlene.  Right now I am finding my workouts very unexciting so I love other things to blog about.  I should call it Pop Workout Quiz though.

1. FUEL: Shot Bloks, GU, Energy Chews, Candy or Other?
I like Shot Bloks but my favorite is Honey Stingers.  I like everything I have tried in this line.

2. Race Length: 5k, 10k, 1/2 Marathon, Marathon, Ultra or Other?
I love Ten Milers although there are not many of them around here.  To me they are the perfect distance.  When I run a half marathon I usually die after ten miles so this distance works well for me.

My husband is driving beside me as I race in the Adirondack Distance Run.  Traffic
was bad and for awhile it looked like I would beat him to the finish.

3. Workout Bottoms: Skirts, Running Shorts, Capris, Pants or Other?
This is tough. I love both skirts and capris.  I think capris win out over skirts for the most part. I certainly wear them more often but that is partly due to the temperatures I run in.
4. Sports Drink: Gatorade, Powerade, Cytomax, you stick to water when you run or Other?
If I use these - I rarely do, it is Gatorade.  Lately I use them more on my bike long rides than for running

5. Running Temperatures: HEAT or COLD?
I definitely prefer cold.  I love running not just in cool weather but in cold weather. I really love running when it is snowing.
I loved running on this day. I had the road pretty much to myself. This was in 2011.

6. Running Shoe Brands: Saucony, Mizuno, Nike, Brooks, Asics or Other?
Well it used to Brooks but I seem to be becoming a Hoka fan.

7. Pre-race meal: Oatmeal, Bagel, Banana, Eggs, Cereal or Other?
Always toast and peanut butter.
8. Rest Days: 1x per week, 2x per week, never ever ever or other?

I have 1 rest day per week.  But I only run 4 times a week. Right now I am running 4, bike training 2 and swimming 1. I plan to step the swimming up to 2 soon. When it is tri season I will be running 4, biking 3 and swimming 2.   I can do that when I am working less and it is lighter longer.
Cross training works well for me.

9. Music: Have to have it or go without it?
I have to have it on the treadmill.  I do enjoy  running with music a lot.  I also listen to pod casts.
10. #1 reason for running: stress-relief, endorphins, you love to race, so you can eat all the cupcakes you want, weight-loss, love running for social reasons or other?
I run because I love to race.  It is also a stress reliever and I believe all that stuff about living longer and better if you exercise. But the bottom line is the racing. If I didn't race I wouldn't run.
Racing continues to get me out of my comfort zone
trying new things and going new places.

Give this a try if you wish. I had fun thinking about all these things and what was important to me.

I would run without racing easily because I love to run, love to be a runner and love those endorphins. But I do love racing when I'm feeling fit. I think it's the buzzing atmosphere and the sense of achievement.

I too love racing. There is that small thrill of beating someone to the finish.....even though you're really just racing yourself. I miss reading your blog and am glad I finally got myself back in to it! Excited to see you've added Tris to your race list :)

I love your snowy pictures! Our would-be snowy race is going to be a muddy slop-fest with the nonstop rain we've had today.

I'm falling a little in love with capris...I'm a little off of shorts after my terrible summer chafing.

I used to not like to run but love to race and test myself. Now I love to run with friends especially, but I'm a little reluctant to test myself and come up wanting compared to how I've done in the past.

I like honey stinger waffles!

I could've wrote this! We are so similar! Love Honey Stingers, I start to die at mile 10 or 11 in a half marathon!

Well, you know I love to race :). But I'm learning as I age that to race well, one cannot race a lot, so not as much racing for me this year. But one day I suspect I'll just run to run and look at the sights along the way! This was fun to read, thanks for sharing it!

I like running in cool weather. I am not sure if I would like running in the snow. It is always hot here in Hawaii, so when I am on a trip to the mainland, I love to get out and run in the cooler weather.

Nice quiz, though a lot of the questions don't apply to me because I don't do races.

But I definitely like to run with music, while wearing a skirt!

I enjoyed reading this, thanks! Sadly we don't get honey stingers here. I got some form blogging friend Lauren once and loved them! I would love to run in snow like that one day. I run lots of races but I don't race a lot.

I really enjoyed this and think we have a lot in common. I rather doubt that I'd run if I didn't race, I can't imagine putting in all the hours without a clear end goal in mind!

Love this post.

I have been nervous to try Hokas until I'm back into a regular routine and completely 100% healed. I am a brooks girl!

I'm shocked that Emily hasn't gotten you into NUUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which is the only thing I like.

I've only done one 10 miler, it was the longest run I'd ever done, it was terrible! Really small race, really fast crowd, I was crying at the end...I was also the last chip timed racer (there were a few behind me but they were pulled from the race course). Needless to say that's probably my absolute least favorite distance =) hehe.

happy to read that you're sticking with the tri thing! Yay! Did you get that swim workout book? That really helped me =).

We are very similar:) I need to hear more about those Hokas. How heavy are they?

I like racing a lot, too, even if I don't always reach my goals. I like the challenges!
