Back to this morning.
So I got up bright and early to run before I biked to school. I got dressed and headed to our mud room to complete my ensemble. I put on my reflective vest (which makes my husband very happy), added my hat and off I went.
I ran about 50 minutes at a very slow pace. I felt a little lame from my half on Sunday and basically just took it easy. Once back home I took off my reflective vest and went to take off my hat. Well, much to my dismay I discovered that I had just run in the daylight, on the streets of my town, in front of people who know me..............wearing my bike helmet. Yes, it is true. I was horrified but even so I could not stop laughing. Just call me the Queen Dork. How could someone do that and not have a clue? Is it my awesome focus just concentrating on my running? Is it my I just don't care what anyone thinks, I don't want to get a head injury if I fall carefulness? Is it my trying to be ready for that bike ride to work, one thing already on? Truly I was just trying to make everyone else feel just a little bit better about themselves. I have been asked if I got pictures. Well, no didn't you get that I was like totally completely unaware? My son wants me to do a reenactment so he can get pictures. Somehow I don't see that happening.
What is an embarrassing thing you have done while getting a workout in? Fess up. I want to hear some stories.
This is NOT how I looked.
NOR is this how I looked.
Sorry, no pictures!

Hahahahahah! That is the single most funny thing I have ever read on a blog post!!! That is sooooo awesome! Glad you can laugh about it. I want to say something funny here, but I can't think of ANYTHING that would add to that!
PS ... I'm just now catching up from this weekend - great job on your race! Those photos were amazing!
This is the best thing I've read all day!
You just MADE MY DAY!!! What a hoot! That is fantastic!
Just had to give them something to talk about, huh?!!!
Too funny ha ha ha ha ha :)
oh my gosh hahahaha. that's hilarious. at least you didn't poop your pants? :)
Hahaha... hilarious!
I think the only embarrassing things I've done during workouts are to wear my shirts backwards or fart during yoga class.
I was already for bed and Jim called me and told me I had to read your blog tonight. I am seriously laughing outloud! That is the funniest thing I have heard in a long time. I can't believe you didn't notice til you got home - that's some serious concentration!! I'm trying to think of a funny story to add....I'm sure I have many because I am a total clutz but right now all I can think about is your story! Thanks for sharing and the laugh.
Hysterical! Thanks for the laugh! I love that you were laughing at yourself. Sounds like something I would do, just haven't. Yet. ;)
That's hilarious, but I totally get it. After a while you forget you even have a bike helmet on. You were just in your morning groove...and how awesome is it that you're THAT automatic with your helmet...don't even think of it.
I do stupid things all the time, but I can't think of anything entertaining right now.
OMG, I love it!! And even better, I love that you blogged about it! I definitely think you can pass it off as being efficient and already ready for your bike ride. :)
Oh thanks for the laugh! What a cute story.
Oh my goodness, I am laughing. That is awesome! Last summer I was running with Elizabeth near my house on back roads, it was hot so I lifted up my shirt to wipe the sweat off my face and then realized I flashed the farmer that was heading towards us on his tractor. Not as funny as your story tho.
What do you think about the Mad Marathon?
senior moment.
Aren't you in charge of teaching the youth of America? Yikes. :-)
Oh my....I should add you to my list of A.D.D.ers in blog world. I am the president, of course, but you are def up for vice! :)
Glad you had a nice laugh.
I am way behind in blogland, a LOT of stuff going on this week and a BIG interview tomorrow. Just thought I'd read one of my favie blogs before I headed off to bed before the big day tomorrow - I am sooo glad I did. :) Will catch up on your half soon, sorry I haven't been more attentive to it.
xo
haha... wow! hilarious!! you just made my day! lol... im sure i've done my share of stupid, out of it, "where's your head at" stuff lol... I just can't think of anything specific at the moment...
It's 8.30 am here and I had a good laugh! Too bad you don't have a pic to show us :)
At least it was early in the morning, imagine it happened during the afternoon when there were much more people around LOL
Didn't it feel heavy? I think that would make my neck ache! Very funny though, you made me laugh out loud at 8am - good start to the day!
Happens to us all.
Well ... some of us.
(Actually hardly any - but I didn't want you to feel bad.)
My embarrassing running moment doesn't actually involve running. It was at a relay event in the bush. No toilets and three of us needed to pee. Only one tree which left us pretty exposed so we huddled together in sister solidarity. A big gust of wind meant the wet we felt on our legs wasn't rain. The three of us are now bonded for ever - sort of like blood brothers. And the moral of the story is to pee separately or always carry baby wipes.
I guess you are so comfortable in your helmet and so focussed of course that you didn't notice and I'm sure the people on your hood just think you're totally hardcore, which you are. : )
But it is hilarious!
OMG, Sorry cause it is at your expense, but I was laughing so very hard. You actually cheered me up some this morning! I would love to have seen that.
This made me burst out laughing...hilarious! Great story this morning :)
I agree with Teamarcia...your neighbors probably just think you're hardcore ;)
So funny! You must be super focused during your runs!
Hilarious! Not sure how you didn't notice. I had to run with my helmet for muddy buddy, and I noticed it the whole time.
I would like a reenactment photo too!
That is a good on! I suspect you were just used to putting on the helmet to ride to school and did it out of habit.
Too funny! I have run with gloves tucked into my visor that looked like reindeer antlers that a Kindergarten student would have made, but that was on purpose. Happy Mother's Day!
While I feel bad laughing 'at your expense' this just killed me and something I would totally do. I was at the gym last year totally rocking out a treadmill run and realized my shirt was on inside out/backwards...and it was very noticeable. This is just small example of the dork I am.
Ok, you inspired me. I'm posting my embarrassing story tomorrow.
This is really very funny! You were certainly focused on something to not notice this.
I am hysterical!!! However, in a world of triathletes, I actually see this often. Many bikers end up on the race course with their helmets!
For me, I once wore my swim cap during the bike. Under my helmet. I got off the bike and what like "what the what??" but like you, just laughed at myself. Cause, well...it IS funny!!!
I can't stop laughing. I first want to tell you that when you said you took off your vest and looked in the mirror horrified, I was thinking you were going to say you forgot to wear a shirt or bra, so I'm actually so glad for the sake of everyones bad race morning dreams, that you were wearing a helmet! You can't be too careful these days with kids driving and texting!
That is the best, please recreate, I bet you looked focused the whole time! :)
I can't wait to hear that everyone in VT is now running in bike helmets, thinking it's in style after seeing you doing it!
This is hilarious. Thanks for the laugh! I do silly stuff all the time. I figure I might as well embrace it.
This is the best yet! I LOVE it...too bad there weren't pictures.
I have one to top it--I once did a triathlon where I saw a woman riding her bike in her wetsuit. Not sure how she did it, but, she did!
LOL! I haven't ever done anything quite that obvious. ;o)
This is priceless!! I love it. I don't have any great stories because I know I'd do something just like this if I did not lay everything out the night before.
Oh my goodness, thank you so much for the good laugh! That is too funny. I always check out other runners when I drive home from work. I look at their form and mostly their clothes. I can only imagine what I would think if I saw a woman just chugging along on her run.... in a helmet!
This is so funny! Loved it! I did the opposite, left the house on a bike and put my visor rather than helmet on. Good thing I noticed soon enough!
Hee hee! That is too funny! And don't feel embarassed, I would be perfectly capable of doing something like that too - and I am sure I have...ahem...but I seem to have forgotten what it was...
Anyway, kudos to you for not being ashamed to admit it!
HA HA HA! Your bike helmet must be extra comfortable for you not to even notice. Either that you or you were extra sleepy :)
This happens all the time in triathlons, so don't feel too bad, although you must have been a pretty funny sight! :)
This is the BEST STORY EVER! Thank you so much for sharing. I could totally see myself doing that if I had a bike helmet - seriously.
You may recall the time I went for a run wearing an underwire bra a couple of months ago... whoops!
LOL! I saw someone in a tri start off the run still in her helmet, she chucked it off the course at some point. It happens to the best of us.
I stopped by to see how your race went today and read this.
That - is funny!
