Three Things Thursday

Jenn - I wrote out the whole Three Things Thursday for your sake.

1. I finished all my teaching relicensing stuff last weekend, turned it in at my school on Monday and it was approved by the local committee today!  This wasn't due for awhile but I like to have things done ahead.  There is tons to do at school coming up and I didn't want this hanging over my head. Now I just need to write the big check and send it off.
I also had to get fingerprinted. I had it done today. I have been teaching for more than 30 years without having had it done but I guess they want to see what I have been hiding all this time.  When I student taught a million years ago in Florida I had to get finger printed there. Vermont is just catching up to the reality that bad people get into teaching too.  The good part was I had to leave school early to do it, so I was at the gym early - whole different crowd - and home earlier than expected.  More free time is always good!

2. I am thinking it would have maybe been a good idea to go to the doctor's last week when I got hurt.  Although I am not sure anything could have been done. My side still hurts a fair amount esp. when I run.  I did take the original 3 days off when I was also sick.  It gets really tight when I run and I think about a break not because I am tired but because of the pain. I know I know it sounds nuts that I am running. But it is getting better, just not as quickly as I would have liked.  Maybe I didn't go to the doctors because I didn't want to be told to stop running. On the other side my heel is feeling top notch, I absolutely can't believe how good it is feeling. I wore dressed two days this week because I could wear shoes without orthotics.  The girly girls in the third grade were just delighted to see me in some dresses!  The boys loved it today when I wore my BRIGHT green shoes again.

3. I just finished the second season of Lost and have started the third!  Loving it.  It certainly makes those morning stretches more enjoyable.

Bonus News:  One week from right now I will be in DC with Emily ready to do some running, eating, gabbing, sight seeing and just plain enjoying being with my daughter. I warn you this isn't the last time I will share my excitement  about this!

This time there will be running because Emily is not
wearing her boot........

And I am not walking while wincing in pain
from my heel!

Fingerprinting seems like a good idea. It'll wipe that last vestige of doubt about you out of our minds :)

So now you can teach. Good!
Are you packing for DC yet? I would be.

You are so tough to still be running with that. Hopefully it continues to get better quickly.

Maybe if I read your blog for long enough I'll be more on top of things rather than doing them at the last minute...but probably not. :)

Hopefully you'll be able to run soon pain free. Enjoy your time in DC.

OOH! I hope you just have a fantastic time with Emily!! Sounds like so much fun!

I'm a little worried about you, tough girl! I'm glad it's getting better but please be careful!!! Awesome that the heel is doing so well.

I keep swearing that I'm going to start "Lost" from the beginning with Netflix. One of these days!! Have a great weekend!

Yes I was joking.
And bathers are swimming costumes or togs - not sure what you call them.

It seems from reading your blog that you go and visit Emily quite often. It's great that you see so much of each other, and have so many shared interests!

I am a HUGE Lost fan- I hope that you are really enjoying it. Season two was the "worst" season in my opinion- it was a bit helter skelter (even my Lost's standards!) It does, however set the stage for some things that happen later in the story line...
Have a great time in DC! The Huz and I are heading down there in June- it is always so much fun with so many things to do and see!

Congrats on your re-licensing! Must feel good to have it done. I don't like to wait on important things.

Sorry that you are still dealing with pain from your accident. Get checked out!!

And YAY for the upcoming mother-daughter time in beautiful DC!

I am sure you didn't go to the doctor for fear he would say stop running. When my foot hurt, that was me (& it got better on its own). I can't believe you have to jump thru hoops after teaching for so long. Beginning teachers have a lot to do in NY but not those who are already permanently certified under the old rules.) Have fun in Dc with Emily. You are so lucky that you 2 share the love of running.

Here's to a fabulous boot-free, heel pain-free next week - yayyyyyyy!! I hope your pain from the fall heals quickly - I bet some DC therapy, along with some shopping, will help the process :).

Fun times that you get to see Em in DC. I still get a kick out of you guys being mother-daughter runners and bloggers!

Wishing you speedy recovery.

Also, I recently finished the series LOST over the summer. I waited til everything was out of DVD and then powered through in about a month. I'll reserve leaving opinions here until you finish the series =).

Running with your kid must be one of the most joyous things to do in life. How special.

Please stop mentioning Lost, it's like tearing open an old scare. It was my favorite. No wait, I'm Manly, okay, you can keep mentioning it.

It's crazy how different the vibe at the gym is depending on what time you're there. I usually go in the morning but have been there at night for Zumba lately and it's totally different!

Sounds like you have a great trip coming next week! How fun! I hope you have great weather and your side is feeling better!

I'll have to admit it, I've never seen Lost. Does that make me lost? So great that you'll be having an injury free DC trip. Have a good weekend!

Did you have to submit your name to verify against a child maltreatment database? We had to do that this year and it is required to get recertify.

I am excited for your DC trip... So, feel free to share the excitement here!

That's so cool that you are going to see Emily! I bet you both have a lot of fun.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I did think this morning during my long run that I'm actually starting to like these runs so maybe you're right and I am going to do that one in Amsterdam too.

The Hogeye half and full marathon is kinda small. I think they had over 200 participants for the half and over a 100 for the full last year.
The Soaring Wings half had about 1500 participants last year.
