Thanks Johann, #1 of TTT

One of the many winter storms I ran
in this year - back when I used
to like snow!

I love the support of other bloggers and of course everyone loves compliments.  We all get our share of love and support from each other.  Lately I have been doing a lot of complaining about the weather. I said I was done but once again it is snowing outside tonight - rather hard. But I'm only telling you, I am not complaining. Of course not.  In my last post though when I was still that whiny Vermont blogger, Johann wrote You are certainly one of the most hardcore winter runners I know.  Nice! I needed that.  Just the other day at work a colleague asked me if I would be glad when it was nicer out so I could START running again.  I politely said, "Well I run all winter but yes I will be glad when it gets nicer out."   The  people who see me daily don't have a clue but my friend on the other side of the world sees me as a tough winter runner.  I am not the only one out there.  Marlene and Jenn run in weather equally bad or worse  as do many of you.

I have been out to dinner two nights in  a row in the middle of the week no less. Last night it was with my husband and our friends that we like to go out with.  There was a special at our favorite place to head to.  In spite of the special we managed to drop a significant chunk of change but we all had a good time.  Today sped by at work with barely time to breathe and off I was again, this time with colleagues from other schools and someone else was treating all of us. He kept insisting we get the whole works- appetizers, salads, entree and of course my favorite  - dessert!  Tonight it was chocolate cake with an Italian filling with hot fudge. Yeah that one had my name on it.  It was great to have time to talk to people I never have a chance to talk to and it was delightful.

Talking about winter and cold I am still up because I am hard boiling 20 eggs to take to school tomorrow so my students can be Emperor penguin fathers and take care of the eggs.  If you have followed me for awhile you know I did this last year too. It is one of my favorite days of the year in spite of when the big, bad skuas ( would I be one of those?) swoop in and steal the eggs from the penguin fathers. Some kids take their egg sitting duties very seriously and there can be tears. I warned them all today more than once but they are all game to give it a try!  Good times in third grade!

I looove the egg-sitting idea. :) Penguins are fascinating creatures, and I bet the kids eat that up!! And yes, i agree with Johann... you definitely are very hardcore!

You are definitely a hardcore winter runner. Isn't that called a Winter Warrior?

I hope nicer, more springy weather comes your way. I, on the other hand, would like some of your cold weather. It is only spring but man, Arkansas gets HOT pretty early in the year.

What a cool idea! I bet your class will have a blast.

It's funny what other bloggers know that people right around us don't. That's where my blog title came from...it's kind of like our secret identity. :) And you've tougher out a loooong winter, which is hopefully ready to head off on its merry way!

That picture is just beautiful. I know you must be totally over Winter but this is coming from someone who never gets to see the white stuff.

You are super tough with all of that winter (and mud) running! I love the idea of the egg sitting. Have a great time with it!

Ooooh, the egg sitting - good luck to all the penguin parents in your class!!!
And I am hoping some sunshine will come your way soon - you are definitely a winter warrior but I can understand that even you get tired of it by March!

I’m glad I could give some support you needed, although you never seem to lack motivation for anything. I remember the egg sitting last year, great fun for sure! We are supposed to be into autumn (fall) over here but today is still 30°C (86F). The morning started at 16°C (60.8F). Have a good Friday and weekend!

I agree with Johann! We've had a tough winter in the Midwest, but ya'll on the East Coast got hammered! Nice job on getting through it.

Egg sitting is a wonderful idea. Now have the kids do it outside in winter cold like the real penguins do. Hmm... maybe better not.
And yes, you are a very inspirational runner, winter or summer alike.

I can really complain about winter but just give me a few months and you'll here my summer issues. You are the most dedicated winter runner I know, you don't need permission to whine!

You are definitely a hardcore winter runner in my book! I have enjoyed reading about your snow adventures but I'm sure you're ready for some spring weather. I'm sick of winter already and we didn't even have it so bad this year.
The egg sitting sounds like a cool project. My brother had to care for an egg in high school as if it were a child. It was a cool project and he even paid me to egg sit. :)

Yay I love that it's egg time once again!
I loved when Thing 1 did that unit. Thing 2 just brought home a papier mache penguin from Kindergarten...so cute!
More snow here too...not complaining but so not thrilled.

This has been a tough year for many of us outside winter runners...but hopefully it is almost over! The egg sitting is such a neat idea!

You are a hard core runner. The weather you run through is crazy cold and snowy. I would cave because I hate cold weather!

Have a great weekend!

Have fun with the egg sitting project!

As you know, I'd have slit my wrists if I had to endure all the snow :)...so you are nothing but total hard core to me!

The eggs sound like so much fun, I know you are one fantastic teacher!!

Happy Weekend, girl!!!

You ARE hardcore! I consider myself pretty hardcore in the winter, but you have really pushed the limits. Spring HAS to be here soon, RIGHT???

Can't wait to hear the egg stories!! lol

I agree: you're definitely one of the most hardcore runners! You're such an inspiration to me. When weather is bad (and it's never as bad as you've had) I think of you and just go because you go too.

Whine away AJH - you have earned it!! My dad (upstate NY) is soooooo sick of snow. Every day what you shoveled yesterday gets covered up :-(( Hang in there!

Awwwwww now I feel bad for teasing you about SD weather. Which, btw, rarely gets real hot too. I should have mentioned that I am super impressed with your dedication and ability to run in that weather. I'm not just saying that either.

I thought you KNEW you were the most hardcore runner out there. Gosh, I was shaking after my run last night and I actually thought of you and tried to suck it up...and it was probably 56 degrees. I know. Don't say anything.

I would have loved that penguin/egg activity. Keep us posted on how the project goes!

Hope all is well with the issues and situations up your way, I've been thinking about you!

"Experience all season" you say? Yeah, you seem to really love the winter :-)

I don't know how you do it. Most of the time if the weather is bad, I'm on the dreadmill. I'm a fair weather runner for sure.

Commenting on your Wash DC comment on Chris K's blog...I enjoyed all my winter/snow running until we had a random 70 degree day, and then I was DONE with winter. It, as you see, is having trouble accepting the breakup. Sigh.

You definitely are a hardcore winter runner! I've been a wuss this winter, but I blame that partially on my injury.

Sorry I haven't commented in a while - you are hard core. Love the egg idea - so cute!!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I am enjoying reading yours! Do you really run in conditions like that?!?! I love in eastern WA and we tend to have extreme temps (not anything like the temperate, but wet, westside of the state) but I haven't bundle up for conditions like that b4!

I think you are such an inspiration and your bog shows that running is a sport that can begin at any point in life! Awesome!!

You are definitely one hard core runner! Chocolate cake with an Italian filling with hot fudge - YUM, that'll keep you warm!
