Oops - Guess I Did Get Hurt

I was a little premature when I said I wasn't hurt badly by my fall.  That night I was in agony. I could only sleep on my back.  If I tried to sleep any other way I was immediately in tears. Plus I was nauseous and had diarrhea.  I still feel horrible but in the dark of the night I thought I had some internal bleeding going on, cracked ribs, I was nauseous due to those internal injuries.......all kinds of fears.  Now I am thinking I am extremely sore and will not be lifting anything heavy anytime soon and I have some kind of flu or food poisoning.  This is just like New Years. What a crummy way to spend vacation days but so glad I am not still there or traveling home.

I continue to be very sore, spend all my time in bed and make quick trips to the bathroom.  I cannot believe how much I have slept over the past two days.  Thank God I was home when this hit.  The "good part" is I should take a running break for either my flu or my injury.  Now I am having to take half as many days off as both things happened at once.  If not for the flu or whatever it is I am guessing I would have tried to run with my injury by today.  Now I am thinking I am not going to run even tomorrow but I hope to get back out there Saturday.  We'll see what tomorrow brings.

I'm having a hard time eating anything, nothing is the least bit appealing.  What makes you feel better when you are sick?  Chicken soup won't do it. At the moment fudgesicles are what is cutting it!

Oh poor you, that sounds terrible. Have a good rest, and don't rush back into it. Another day or two off running won't matter, and may help you recover in the longer term. Good luck - hope you feel better.

Darn..at least the bug hit after the race!

You could have really broken into a few pieces on that ice!

When I'm really sick I just hunker in bed and sleep. I can practically go into suspended animation ..for days..(with some eating of course). Drives my wife crazy..thinks I'm dead...also peeved that I'm so good at sleeping ;). But it heals me up fast.

How awful. :( Hope you feel better soon. For me, when I'm sick I usually crave won ton soup. And, like Paul, all sleep all the time until I feel human.

Oh no, sorry to hear that you're feeling so horrible. What a double-whammy with your back pain and stomach sickness. :( I hope you feel better soon! Take it easy. {HUGS}

It's not fair to finish a great holiday which included such a good race with a fall. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Oh no - I hope you get better very soon ... from both things! When I'm sick - what helps is not doing much, sleeping as much as possible and drugs i.e. medication - I dose up and stay dosed up until all is well.

Hope you have a quick recovery from both issues! That doesn't sound like fun at all. At least you got through your race first. Rest up and feel better.

Oh no! That is not good at all. I'm glad if you have to take off, at least you are killing too birds with one stone. But still, no good nonetheless! Sending you lots of hugs.

I'm so sorry that you are both injured and sick - not a good double whammy. I completely feel your pain though - I am going on almost week 3 of very little exercise - between me being out of town, sick, and then injured. Everytime I start to do something I end up going backwards. It is really depressing. But you will be feeling better soon I am sure!!

I hope you feel better soon.
If fudgsicles are doing the job, have lots of it. How about those frozen juice bars things? What about fruits? I actually like apples/apple pears/pineapples sprinkled with a tad of salt.

Hugs, hugs and more hugs.
No advice on what helps though, sorry. It seems every time I get sick, I need to experiment from scratch.
Hope you are feeling better really soon.

Oh my goodness. That was a terrible fall. I am "the faller" and I still can't offer advice, except for rest, rest, rest.

Best of luck in your recovery. Bad falls are tough to recover from, not only physically, but mentally too.

Thanks for sharing so that we can all learn.

I'm so sorry to hear that you were actually more hurt by that fall than you thought. And then to have flu on top of it - poor you!
Take good care of yourself and I hope you are feeling better this weekend.

Just take it easy Andrea and try to run again tomorrow. Obviously your body is giving you a signal to take it easy.

I'm so sorry! GET BETTER! I really hope it isn't anything, but make sure you see a doc if it's still bothering you next week!

Oh my! You really have it yucky right now! Sure hope things are looking up today. I didn't think I was hurt on Wednesday when I got hit but then yesterday I developed a good thigh bruise and a pretty sore back and now today, even worse...Not fun. Spending your vacation days like this-even MORE not fun....

I haven't been sick for awhile. Saltine crackers, ramen noodles, and 7up! My mom used to give us that so somehow I think it's a miracle cure. Problem is I NEVER have any of these things on hand so I have to tromp into the store SICK to get them!

Take it easy, rest up, heal up and hopefully have an enjoyable weekend:)

Hope you feel better. You really should rest after the half anyway. Are you getting snow in VT?

OH i am so behind on blogs, but I am so sorry to hear you are so sick!!! I tend to stick to soup and crackers and toast when I know I need food but can't eat...David has also be ordered to the store to buy diet cherry 7up for some bizarre reason I also have decided that helps..but i don't drink soda so who knows
