Three Things Thursday

I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to make it to the gym today as one of my cats was pretty well settled on top of my gym bag when it was time to leave this morning.   But I did persuade her to move and managed to fit in my workout. I don't like the treadmill yet I have been having really good workouts on it. I am not trying to do the mega miles on it that many of you do. I usually run 4 miles  with a small amount of walking before and after. I am more honest with my pace on the treadmill and lately I start  at the pace I usually maintain but I have been going steadily up every 5 minutes.  I run most of my run at a decent pace. (all things being relative)

A student's mother sent in CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES for me as a valentine treat. She also sent in a bag of coffee which I got to smell all day!  Another student brought in a cute cute coffee mug for me. What was going on?  We "celebrate" Valentine's Day tomorrow and I usually just get candy hearts and other junky candy.  I was starving mid afternoon and wanted to eat the cookies but I resisted. I brought them home to my hubby.  I remembered my colleague calling me skinny and I didn't want that feeling to go away! Tomorrow will take more resisting as there are bake sales to raise money for Haiti as well as valentine snacks!  "I do not need to eat junk.  I do not need to eat junk."

I am notorious for buying things and "saving" them for later.  Why I do this I do not know but this week I have been wearing many of my saved items. Today I ran in my new (less than a week) Target seamless sports bra.  I LOVED It.  I also ran in a pair of fitness Capris I got on sale from LL Bean who knows when.  I totally loved these and thought they looked good too.  The problem with my little habit is I bought them so long ago I doubt they even carry them anymore!

Here I go again, four posts on Three Things Thursday. I live such a wild life!  But I have to tell you! My son has signed up for the Vermont City Marathon! Woo Hoo!  It is his first marathon although he very graciously ran the half with me last year!  I love it!

Cute Kitty! The chocolate cookies look soooo good:) Thanks for the tip on the Target sports bras...I have not tried them yet, but do weigh other runners thoughts and opinions highly:) Congrats to your son for signing up for his first marathon!! Good for him that is exciting:)

My cat sits on everything that I need at that moment, usually my lunch for school. I didn't get any Valentine treats from my students today :(. But high schoolers don't really like their teachers. Maybe it's just me :/. That's great that your son signed up for a marathon, he looks like he's ready to roll!!

My doggie snuggles with me in the mornings making it hard to get up and get to the pool or out on the roads to run.

Wow, you are a family full of runners.

Your students are sweet!! I love the heart mug.
I have to wear my stuff RIGHT when I get it. You are very much like my sister, she saves her new clothes for as long as possible.

We have 3 cats, 3 dogs, many fish and thousands of silkworms at home.
It is great to have other family members run as well, but it is special to have your son run as well.

Cute kitty! And, yay, for sweet students! I love the smell of coffee grounds!

Why is that cats always lay in the most inopportune places - it's like they have a sixth sense they use to screw with you.

Running with my son is one of the coolest things I can imagine. He is too young for a marathon though (14yo) but beats me on trails at any distance.
Love your kitty. Mine love resting on any bags we leave out and yes, that includes gym bags also. I feel totally heartless when I remove them.

how exciting for you son! I don't know how you resisted those cookies, and that coffee sounds great, who needs Starbucks with that in the house! :)

So cool you and your son get to run together! That is my dream one day - to be able to run a marathon (or any race) with my future kid(s)!
Happy Valentine's Day!

I hate the treadmill too but it is good for maintaining a consistent pace which I suck at.

Love that your son signed up for a marathon. I assume you will rn it with him>

My 10 year old daughter likes to run with us and last Thanksgiving we ALL ran a race together. Even my lazy 13 year old son lol who came in ahead of my daughter and husband in the 5k.

You definitely have some will power passing on those cookies.

Target is where I buy my sports bras, too. So sweet that you received some nice Valentine's goodies!

My favorite marathon - Vermont! Ran it..oh dear!...almost 10 years ago but won't soon forget the course or the crowd support on that midway hill. How wonderful that you're doing the relay and your son is in it for the full haul.

So, judging by your header photo, I'm thinking you're based in northern New England. I miss that part of the country something fierce.
