Beginning to Taper

I am beginning to taper for my half marathon next week.  I ran 6 today and I am going to run 8 tomorrow.  It was cold but perhaps not as bad as last weekend. I am looking forward to a one pant day for running!  I did go from a hat to a headband but that may have been it for weather changes!

I can't wait for my half marathon.  I am  hoping that it isn't too cold but suspect it may be. I  have run on the ocean in the winter but not raced.  I don't plan to PR but would like to have a respectable time and that might be hard to do with too many clothes on!  Lately in the cold I feel like I am running in molasses.  I have only done long runs for training, no pace runs, speed runs etc.

This afternoon I took my husband to the movies as a pre valentine treat. Well I forgot my pocketbook at home!  Luckily he had brought money. We saw Edge of Darkness. It was a bit gory but certainly kept you captivated. We also considered the one with Jeff Bridges or Avatar.  I must be one of the last people to have not seen it.  I may yet bow to peer pressure and go.

Tonight it's a good night to settle in watch the Olympics.  Enjoy!

Tapering can be tough. Good luck! And, dang it looks so cold!! I haven't seen Avatar yet either. I will not cave to peer pressure...I don't want to see it!

Your pictures are beautiful. I can't wait for it to warm up either! But I have to say a cold wind will get me moving ... just so I don't have to be out there anymore! Enjoy your weekend!

Maybe our warm (65F) temperatures will come your way.
Avatar is beautiful - might be a good movie for your taper. I loved watching agile Navi move and run.
Happy Valentine's Day.

I did two races on the ocean last February and both were COLD. Although as long as its not rain/sleet/hailing with 20mph winds like it was for my Easter States race last year...you should be okay! Laura told me today I should maybe not do the marathon in WA in case it rains. I told her that will not bother me as long as its beautiful!

Hey there! I am soooo behind on blogging, I'm just trying to get caught up on all of my fave blogs.

Your run looked like mine today! Snowy and icy. I forgot my yak traks.

Good luck on your taper; enjoy it!

Enjoy your taper! I run faster when it's cold (as long as the ground isn't icy), but I'm weird that way LOL.

Happy Taper!! You are amazing!

I haven't seen Avatar either... and I thought I was the last hold-out.

You're going to rock your half marathon!

Good luck with the taper, it can be more difficult than the race sometimes. I like the pictures. In contrast to that, I ran my 32km (20 mile) race yesterday in 33°C (91F). I haven't seen Avatar yet.

The weather and wind can be especially unforgving along the ocean at times. You are prepared so just go and enjoy a new experience!

Happy Valentine's Day! I've never run near the ocean - summer or winter so I have no idea what you should expect. Enjoy the race.

let's hear it for the taper! Woot! How desperate have we become that we hope for one-pant days? When is spring again?
