Maine Suggestions/ A Ten Mile Run

10 miles today on a fairly cold day!  I had to get up early and get it done because I was going to a funeral.  I didn't get started as early as I had planned but I had built in some wiggle room so I got it done in time.  I went on the roads - not my newer route which takes me forever but my usual one. But even with this being my usual route I haven't been 10 in awhile so I was revisiting old routes.  My pace wasn't fast but it was certainly faster than it has been.  I didn't feel at all dead when I ended the 10 miles and truly could have gone more. That was a good feeling.  I stopped on and off to take pics but it was too cold and time was too short to linger.

I'm going to Maine soon.  I know I've asked this before but I'll ask again for suggestions of things to do, especially in the winter in Maine - from Freeport to Kittery basically.  Cannot wait for vacation!!

Sorry, I don't know a thing about Maine other than that's where the Appalachian Trail ends. Loved the photos of your neck of the woods, though. Have a good trip.

To run double figures is always good - well done!

Way to go getting in that 10! You've been so on with your running in this cold weather. I've done a lot of stuff outside, but most of my runs have been way shorter.

Well if you swing thru Portland I have lots of suggestions.... First have a nice easy/freezing run around the Back Bay, and maybe up the Eastern Prom (this is actually a much better idea in the summer but is still fun in the winter...) Then mosey up Commercial Street and warm up with a bourbon and some ahhhhhhmazing truffle chips at the Salt Exchange. (if it was Summer I'd suggest a trail run at Pineland, a couple hikes and a beer or two at local pubs but it's cold here so things just aren't as much fun!!) :-(

I've only ever been to Boothbay Harbor in Maine, which is a cute town. Lovely pictures but it sure does look cold - brrr!

If you want a lowkey place to get some good food, stop by Silly's on Washington Ave in Portland. I think if you head a little inland to Pineland, there are good snowshoeing trails. Have fun!

I really like that you don't submit to the weather in winter and run on the treadmill. If you did that we'd all miss out on your gorgeous snow scenery. I love your picture from the bridge.

Good job on your ten. Looks like beautiful scenery to run in!

Sorry, can't help you on Portland...but if you ever need ideas in NM, I'm your person!

Well done on the run. I'm with Char, your pics of your snow runs are really beautiful. And I love it that you never let the weather keep you from exercising outdoors.

Beautiful photos. Sorry you had to go to a funeral =(.

You always seem to have such great vacations in Maine, looking forward to your photos.

I've been to Maine a couple of times but I don't think the areas I went to are near where you are going. It is a beautiful state.
