What A Difference A Day Makes

Yesterday I got a great workout in but it was as far from scenic as possible.  I took Emily to the airport and was at the fitness center in Burlington by 5:30. A.M. that is.  Since it was the day after Christmas there wasn't much competition for the treadmill but apparently 5:30 is usually a hot time.  One wonders why.  The treadmills had been switched around since the last time I was there and now they faced the wall.  Yes, the wall. A wall with spackle so I assume things are being worked on.  I know many of you hate the treadmill and I'm no huge fan but I find them convenient in the dark in the winter.  But facing the wall???? Could it be any worse?
After, I went in the pool there which I cannot do at my own gym.  Loved this and again there was no crowd. And when I was done swimming the hot tub was empty so I used it too.  By 7:45 I was done and had a lot of the day left.  I ended up going to see Lincoln with a couple friends.

Today we are having a snowstorm unlike anything from last year. At last. I LOVE running in snowstorms.  Love it!  I didn't hurry out, in fact I stayed in my pajamas for most of the morning, drinking coffee and watching my current favorite tv series, Criminal Minds.  Whoever recommended this to me (Fran?) thank you.  Once I finally got dressed I used my bike trainer first and watched the storm out the window as I pedaled away.  Much better than the wall in front of the treadmill. But that isn't the  good part. Then I took my run, my glorious run in the snowstorm. I was slow slow slow. It was like running in soft sand and my knee was bothering me some. But I could not resist going out in it because it makes me smile the whole while to run in such beauty. Here are a few pictures from my glorious run.

Which Edge do you go to? Great pictures of the snow! I played outside with the kiddos at work.

Running in a snowstorm?? No thanks :) I prefer the trainer or the treadmill when it looks like that outside. Good for you though!

I'm so jealous! We were supposed to get 6-8" of snow starting Christmas night. Instead...nothing!! Snow to the north and south of us but none for us. Thank you for at least giving me snowy pictures to enjoy b

Love Criminal minds too. We got snow and I ran in it too. Worse than the wall, is facing a mirror and staring at yourself. I had that at pt.

Gorgeous snow! I like being out when it is snowing, too.

I would hate a treadmill facing a wall too - maybe it was a temporary arrangement?

I guess a treadmill facing the wall brings new meaning to "hit the wall"

Gorgeous run! I ran in the snow on Wednesday and thought of you. We got a lot less snow though and it eventually turned to rain and is gone now. Rumor has it we may get more tomorrow though.
The treadmills at my gym face the wall but at least there is a mirror so you can see what is going on behind you... or admire yourself while you are running.

Love seeing your snow pics but am glad we didn't get it :)

I wasn't the one that recommended Criminal Minds, don't follow that show.

How can somebody prefer the treadmill instead of a run in snowstorms? Wonderful pics!

There is something special in running in newly fallen snow..... very quiet and peaceful. If it is a nice, dry, fluffy snow = nice. Slogging through heavy, deep stuff = :-( = not so fun. And wow! great job on keeping up with your brick work - awesome!

I would lose my mind facing the wall on a treadmill - that's definitely below average. Snow is so beautiful - please keep it with you.

I can't think of anything worse than running on a treadmill facing a wall. Isn't that the punishment doled out to naughty kids in class?

But running in the snow - I could definitely do that. I might freeze but I've always imagined it to be invigorating and exhilarating.
