Three Things Thursday

Ready to head out.

1. I rode my bike to work today! I loved it.  I only had to leave about 5 minutes earlier than usual unlike when I ran it last spring. It is slightly less than 4 miles and a lot of it is downhill!  It was cold but a great way to start the day. I got to see my bike all day (in the front of my classroom tucked behind my chair) and know I had a ride home ahead of me and not a visit to use the elliptical at the gym. That certainly brought a smile to my face each and every time I thought it!  When I rode home I rode right by my turn and continued up the road.  I do have my minimum mileage to ride and just the ride to and from work wasn't going to cut it.  I probably looked a little strange with a huge backpack on my back.  Speaking of which I think it is time to get a good saddlebag. Any recommendations?

It's getting pretty around here!

2. When I talk about my workouts each day I realize I have been shortchanging myself when I think about what I do. I am spending about an hour a day stretching.  This has to count for something!  I get up about 20 minutes earlier to fit it in in the morning and no matter how tired I am I do my stretches each evening.  Not aerobic and not exciting at all but I surely hope they are helping!

3. Grey's Anatomy season opener tonight..........the only show I watch live. It certainly can't beat the finale for excitement!

Wow! Fall has officially arrived...look at all of those gorgeous colored leaves:)

Good for you on biking to work! I am in awe of the fact that you stretch for an hour. You are right, that has to count for something:) I know that I need to start stretching more. I love Grey's too!

It is great you can bike to work. The only thing that is close to our house is the library and college Kenneth is taking some classes at. :(
I keep promising myself to do the stretching (I really need it!!!) and it ends up just being promises. You are good.
OK, fall is coming to NE and this is the only time I really miss living there. Hope you will post tons of colorful pics.

Glad you are having such a wonderful time biking. It is fun. You live in such a beautiful place too...I would love to be out doing anything in a place like that!

What kind of stretches are you doing? One hour a day. Wow! That's fabulous and definitely count for something. That is something I NEED to be doing. But I lack discipline.

I miss commuting by bike. Used to do it three times a week rain or shine living in Seattle.

I noticed the Volvo in the background. Is the Parking Brake on? :)

So great you can ride your bike to work! Good for you and also good for the environment, and an excellent example for the kids in your class. Enjoy it while the fall weather holds out!

Biking to work sounds fun, well done! You can certainly pat yourself on the back for what you do every day.

I think you get special cycling gloves for winter but these will probably not be cheap. The gardening gloves might work well and also offer protection for your hands if you do have a fall. I like the fact that they are cheap and then I can use them in the garden as well.

Glad you are having such great rides! I ride most of the year, but it is warmer here. I have the special gloves and you can by toe of full foot covers, makes a huge difference for the feet. I saw Grey's, looking forward to the season. Cheers!
