Did you take my car?

I was sitting drinking my coffee when my husband hurried in the house looking a bit worried and asked me if I took his car. Well, I am sitting right here drinking coffee so where do you think I took it?  He said it wasn't outside and of course I had to check and no it wasn't. Did someone steal it?  We were both home so that would be a rather brazen move.  But........no..............it took off for a journey by itself down the lawn and way down into the ravine/bank next to our house.  My MIL's car did this years ago here but it just stopped at the bottom.  No such luck today.  But it has now been towed up out of the bank and appears to be pretty much fine.

We couldn't even see it from the house but there it is peeking
out of the bank.  Not stolen!

The tow truck has arrived!

This is where it was!

Another shot!

So the moral of the day: Leave your emergency brake on or don't leave it in neutral! And note please it was my husband who did this, not me!

Wow! Glad you guys were able to find it...better than stolen! I'll have to share this with my hubby who doesn't believe in emergency brakes enough. :)

Ouch!! Glad you had your priorities straight and carried your coffee down for a look :-) At least no one was hurt - cars can be fixed/replaced, right? Have a great weekend!

OMG, I was laughing hysterically....until I realized that's something so A.D.D. I'd do!! Glad it wasn't stolen (my friend's car was last year. She ran inside after running errands to grab some coupons she's forgot, was inside for 3 minutes max and came out and someone took her car. Yikes).

Hope your heel's happy this weekend :). I thought I was hanging up my running shoes forever the other day b/c my knee had this stabbing pain in it for 2 weeks and vowed to swim a few weeks...then low-and-behold, I woke up the next day after blogging about it and it was perfectly happy. GO figure. Why can't my heel do the same? I blog about it regularly and it still is a pain! But I did run 9 miles today, VERY SLOW, and all was ok.

I don't think I have an emergency brake on my vehicle. But I am still getting used to it.

I think I heard about this same thing happening on Car Talk (NPR Click and Clack) not too long ago? Was MIL's a Volvo as well? Glad no one was hurt!

Wow! Your car has a life of its own!

OMG! Thanks goodness it wasn't stolen! A couple years ago my husband and I went running at a big nature park and we drove there, left the car parked on the street where we always left it, went and ran and when we came back the car was gone! Turns out there was a big bike race that day and there was no parking allowed on that street and our car had been towed! So we had to walk home and then later my husband walked to the police parking lot where they kept all the towed cars to pick it up. It was a costly run that day! But we were glad it hadn't been stolen.

OH NO!!
I ALWAYS put my emergency break on!
Can you imagine if it was YOU that this would have happened to? Now you can tease him for many years to come.

I'm glad everyone is ok and it didn't get stollen

Hope there is not too much damage to the car.
This is a funny story. Hope the rest of your weekend is less eventful.

that's crazy! hope nothing happened to it on it's journey into the trees. funny stuff though :)

question - how do you get the web address to be agegroupsrock.blogspot.com/2010/09/leave-your-emergency-brake-on when the title of the post is different? just curious

Oh my gosh! I would of been freaking out if I didn't see my car where it was supposed to be:) This was a funny post...sorry...I did laugh when reading this because it is great humor:) Bummer about having to get a tow but at least the car is safe:)

Oh Andrea, I couldn't help but laugh about it. And of course your husband did it. We are way too smart to forget such a thing!

Ohhh Nooo!!! Maybe he did it on purpose so he could have an excuse to get a new car. :) hee hee

OMG that's pretty funny...thank goodness it's a Volvo...they're tough! :)

WOW, glad to hear you found it, it was OK, AND it wasn't stolen. Our motto around here is "Put the emergency brake on AND don't leave it in neutral". That way you are doubly safe. Never know when one or the other could fail.

Oh my! What a story about your car.

Crazy!! BUT this just confirms what I always say... men NEVER use the emergency brake. I've been teased about always using it. Men have told me it is pointless. Well now I have proof that it IS worth taking the extra second to use that brake!
