Three Things Thursday

1. I won a giveaway from Running Circles Around the Turtles! Thanks Robin. I won a subscription  to Women's Running Magazine!  Yeah!  This is my first win and I am quite excited about it!

2. I've been at the gym a lot this week running on the boring old treadmill. I did a speed workout on Tuesday which I hated but I managed.  I actually got a run outside in on Monday due to a day off to attend a funeral of an elderly neighbor.  My friend,T, was also going to the funeral so we ran together. We went on a different route to avoid traffic (those of you in a city would laugh at our traffic but our roads don't always have good shoulders) so we did more hills than usual!  So one run outside and two in but it doesn't matter because on Friday I leave right after work...........for.................the Outer Banks where I will get my fill of ocean running, beach running, outside running, time to run so therefore relaxed running!!!

And I am going to the Outer Banks because next week I am on spring break!!!!!!

3.  I'm trying to narrow down what fall marathon (1) I want to do.  Next week on vacation I will be reading marathon reviews on Marathonguide like it is my job.  Meanwhile I thought I  could ask my bloggy buddies if they had recommendations to do or not do any of the ones I am considering.  At this point I have five in mind.

I had been leaning toward the Hampton or Hartford one.  Any help out there?

I know the Rochester Marathon is fairly flat, and it begins and ends at Frontier Field, the baseball stadium. The course goes through some pretty neighborhoods, along the Erie Canal, the University of Rochester. I enjoyed the half, it's a small race, not a huge party after, but they had pizza, bagels, fruit, chocolate milk etc. Well organized, and I got a Tech Shirt after.

Have a great trip to OBX, make sure you get a photo running on the beach so you can make that a future blog header!!

I'm going to look at these later, but probably the earlier in the fall...the more likely I am to join you (if that matters...). HAVE FUN in North Carolina!

Jealous of the spring break - but you deserve it! Enjoy!!!
I would say, I usually have to have a passion for a marathon to want to train for it. So if any are REALLY peaking your interest, I would go for those. No fun training for a marathon you aren't excited about :)

Love your new blog photo.
Right now I would love to be able to run even on a treadmill. I read about your runs and I am green with envy. :)
Can't advise much about marathons you mentioned but Newport, RI is a beautiful place.

Have a wonderful and relaxing spring break!! I have no suggestions on marathons as I've never done one. Congrats on the win - I like that magazine.

Congrats on your first giveaway! That's so cool!

As for the marathons, I can't help you since I haven't actually ran one yet! I would enjoy hearing which one you have picked because I have a feeling that my first one will be a first on many!

Super jealous you're going to the beach! Havea great spring break! I've never done any of those marathons you listed (I need to venture East more...) but you'll pick the right one. I LOVE fall marathons. You train in the God forsaken heat and then wham...you go to run your marathon and it's cooled down and you feel so great (well, in most instances anyway. hehe).

so, while you are in the OBX, if you are in the middle part, near Kitty Hawk, may i suggest a run along Jockey's Ridge. go in across from the kite place (can't miss it on the main drag). don't bother going to the park itself, save some $$. another GREAT place for a trail run is in the Nag's Head Woods nature conservancy.
wish i could have gotten you these tips earlier.
have fun!
