Outer Banks Woo Hoo!

I am in the Outer Banks for my spring break and it is beautiful!!!!!!  Look at the map above if you don't know what the Outer Banks looks like and see what a narrow strip of land it is!  Our rental house has a very thorough book on hurricanes. The first part tells what to do to evacutate.  The second tells the  procedures if you decide to stay and ride it out with number one being RECONSIDER!  We are in Avon.

It was a long drive but  a road trip is always fun especially with  a bunch of females!  Once we got here last night I settled in threw on some running clothes and headed to the beach.  The temperature is around 65 and sunny sunny sunny!!!!  I ran a quick 4 miles last night, looking at, listening to and smelling the ocean!  It sure beat recent treadmill runs!

There are 6 of us and we are a pretty relaxed group. Everyone does what they want and follows their own routine. I usually get up pretty early and head out for a run.  When I come back I eat breakfast and go in the hot tub. I know I should do an ice bath but I don't care!  Everyone has a night to cook a meal.  Last night was grilled steak, baked potatoes and salad and it was yummy!  I don't know what is on the agenda for tonight! We have unbelievable sunsets each night!!

Last night I froze!  I sleep on the porch (glassed in) with views of the bay.  I got up and put on slippers and two jackets.  Tonight I know where the heavier quilt is, no problems!

When I got up today I headed out for a longish run.  I went 11 miles. I did some of it on the road, heading south to the next town. It is somewhat strange knowing there is about a 1/4 mile of land between ocean and bay!!!  I went about 5 1/2 miles and turned around. When I got back to town I went down to the beach and did the last few miles on the beach.  I was very worn out, nothing like last week's 11 mile run!  I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!

Wow! Sounds like the perfect vacation. Beautiful pics! The sunset is spectacular. And sleeping on the porch sounds amazing...though it was cold. Glad you were able to do a long run. I love long runs on vacation...they seem so much more fun, not like work!

Enjoy the rest of your vacation!
