Monday Brain Exchange Week 2

Jill at Finishing is Winning is asking a question to respond to each Monday. Today's is:

What are your favorite 3 races? When were they and why are they a favorite?

I love this question but it is a tough one.  I race a lot and have a lot of favorite races but I am going to give it a try!

1. Vermont City Marathon - 2004  This was my first marathon and it is an awesome race.   Your spectators can see you again and again.  In this race I noticed the people who had come to cheer me on before they saw me each time. Everyone commented on how happy I looked. Believe me for most of it I was.

                                                                                                                                          2.  Stowe 8 Miler - I don't know if I would pick a particular year. I just like this race.  It is a loop and I love loops.  I like the fact that it is somewhat of an unusual distance. It is always a well attended race and when you set out you are part of a large group of runners and I get that rush when I am surrounded by runners with some common goals.  This last year I got to race it with my daughter.  It is always in July and can be very hot but it is such a scenic course the heat can be forgiven.

3.  I need to choose a half marathon because I love half marathons.  I really enjoyed the Hampton Half which I ran this February.  It was a beautiful course with a lot of it along the ocean!  It is fairly flat.  I loved it because I did not slow down my last 3 miles which I am apt to do.  See race report here.

Oh it is so hard to stop at 3.  It is more unusual for me to not like a race than to like one.  What causes me to not like a race - generally disorganization!

I just saw that Jill did Honorable Mention.  Awesome Idea.

Honorable Mention: Archie Post 5 Miler, Great Castle Road Race, Hudson Mohawk Marathon, All Women and One Lucky Guy Half Marathon

Okay time to quit!

Wow girl, you've done a lot of racing! I've only done one race in the last 10 years, so I couldn't even play if I tried. :)

I am a race ADDICT and have so many favourites! Great list you have there.

One of my all-time favourite races was the Wine Country Run... we ran through vineyards in Niagara Wine Country tasting wine along the way!

You like to race like me! Love it! And I love to read race reports almost as much! You should review some of them on the marathon race finder thingy - I can't remember the address though! Ha!

I love, love, love seeing your race pics! Also, it's really that hot in your neck of the woods in July?? I wouldn't have thought so. Oh, and I almost forgot - LOVE your new header picture. I really like how you change them frequently. Your 'brand' is your changing photo. :-)

HUGS from Orlando... and THANKS for the vote on More.com!! I really appreciate it (and you!)
