Randomness on a Thursday - Let's Make it 4

1. Look what headline appeared in my local paper on Saturday.

Police say a boa constrictor has been missing for a month in Johnson

The good news: A six-foot boa constrictor has been missing from a home in Johnson for about a month, police said Friday. Officials do not know if the snake is dead or alive, though the owner thinks the cold weather would have killed the pet.

The bad news: any snake is bad news but a boa constrictor......in Vermont. If I was the one who found it while running I would have a heart attack and it would all be over.

2. I have already been back in the pool!  I am joining the Masters Swim Club at my local high school for a whopping $30 a year and hope to swim once a week.  Tuesday I was there ready to swim at 6 a.m.  I swam 1000 yards and felt great all day.  I stopped on the way to work and bought a cup of pumpkin spice coffee and I had packed my breakfast right along with my lunch!
Wednesday after school.  The colors are nice
but not spectacular.

3. Wednesday and Thursday I commuted to school by bike. It has been a great week exercise wise including the rainy bike ride.  I do now have my bike cleaned up and looking much better.
Wednesday when I biked it was cold but okay. It was gorgeous when I biked home.  Today I was lukewarm (pun intended) about biking to work and thought I might drive and then bike at home later. As it became light I could see there was a HARD FROST on the ground and it was 25 degrees. I got a huge smile on my face and couldn't wait to bike.  ??????? Am I nuts?  I truly walked around smiling until it was time to leave.  Once riding I instantly got an "ice cream headache."  I was cold but it was not unbearable, in fact I had a lot of fun and then another gorgeous afternoon ride home.
Thursday morning - a serious frost!

4.  We just had Open House at school.  I had 100% of my students come with various family members.  Yeah!  They are so pleased to show everyone their stuff. I also had many of my math students come into see me.  Sometimes when I see the parents (or grandparents) I make the connection and the kid's behavior - all makes sense!

Yeah yeah yeah tomorrow is Friday. I may not be leaving on a jet plane but on Saturday I am off on a road trip to the ocean with the ladies!

Yes, you are nuts. :)

Very cool that you're enjoying the swimming. I've kind of thought I should keep going, but it's not nearly as convenient as running or biking from home.

Awesome open house attendance! Amazing. What a great feeling!

UGH.....biking with frost...no thanks, it's time for the trainer at that point for me.

Hopefully the boa stays away or dead. Not cool!

A road trip with the girls will be tons of fun, enjoy! YAY!

The colors are starting to turn, sooo pretty! One day I WILL be coming to visit in Vermont during the fall, I love all the colors you guys get!

Look at you, swimmer girl!! How cool to score such a cheap deal for the pool and happy to hear you're enjoying it so much. I definitely see a tri in your future :).

The good thing about it being a big boa is that you'll be able to see it before you step on it!

You got frost already? It's finally Autumn here for 2 days after crazy high temperatures last weekend.

I wouldn't run at all anymore until they found the snake. I've never seen one that wasn't in captivity but somehow they scare me. I also think people shouldn't keep snakes as pets, these are not the right animals as a pet.

Why would anyone want a boa as a pet? It's not like they're cuddly - unless you're talking about the feather type of boa.

You are a lady on the move! Great job getting back in the pool so soon!

I just survived parent/teacher conferences last night. After 4 no-shows for the first 6 conferences I was rather discouraged about parent involvement this year :( however, I had a "so that's why your child is a little strange" moment after meeting one of the parents. Oh my this is going to be an interesting year!

Thanks for waiting to tell me the bad news about the Maine Marathon! What a nice award you won, but you can't let that marathon be your last one! MDI would be beautiful.

Hooray for getting your swim on!!! Next years should be interesting in the racing department around here!

100% attendance at the open house? That is fantastic!

Wow, $30/year? Our master's is $30/month! You'd be crazy not to!

A hard frost indeed. Seems so early for that. But your leaves are spectacular.

And let's hope that hard frost did the boa constrictor in!

A Boa on the loose? Hell, I would move. LOL. If I saw that, I would have a heart attack too girl!

I love the picture of the stream with the fall colors and the sunshine. So very peaceful. So fun to bike to work, any day that starts out with exercise is awesome in my book.

Yay for Masters Swim! I haven't gotten up the courage to join.....

Lucky you to have had a hard frost! I'm waiting because the misquotes are huge around here.
