Waldo Canyon

Colorado just gets more beautiful and exciting every day. Today we had a leisurely start and then headed to Waldo Canyon.  It was a beautiful place to run on a gorgeous day!  We ran not quite 7 miles in all. Some of it was walking and some running. We walked around stones and other objects. Well at least we did for the most part.  I managed to take not one but two falls.  Only one produced blood and I was rather disgusted with myself when I did it again.  Yes, I will wear the KLUTZ crown now.

Blood and Dirt!

M enjoying the run!

Playing with the camera!

But aside from the falls it was a perfect run with M, beautiful views, ups and downs not just the uphill hike of yesterday and friendly Colorado people and tourists.  We had many views of Pikes Peak so we could pat ourselves on the back for our successful hike.  M kept pointing out to me where we had been and where we were going.  We took our time and thoroughly enjoyed the hike.

Love looking at Pike's Peak

On the trail
Loving the day!

When we were done we took a drive through Garden of the Gods so I could get more excited for our run there on Monday.
Stunning!  This picture doesn't begin to do it justice!

Then she took me to see the course for the Summer Round Up 12K I will be running in the morning.  It helped to lessen some of my anxiety.  I haven't exactly tapered for this race but expect to have a good time as in fun not speed!

That scenery is so spectacular. Your last month of travel-runs have been great to read and look at.

You go to the most interesting places to run! I'm going to have to live vicariously through you until I get to be a better runner and start venturing to other places to run.

It was so great to meet you today! Your are the complete bomb - climbing Pikes Peak Friday, doing Waldo yesterday, and racing today - unbelievable! Thanks for sharing part of your trip with us. I know you are going to hit the roads in G of G tomorrow, but I think the trails are better (and even more scenic)! :-) We sent a photo of you finishing the race to your email. I thought I had the camera set on the sport setting (multiple pics right after each other) but alas, wrong setting and only one measly pic. Sorry! I felt bad that Mary couldn't eat much at breakfast - I wish I would have know b/c we certainly could have found a more suitable place! Have lotsa fun tomorrow and thanks again for taking some time out for us! LOVE your new header pic, BTW!
