The Race That Wasn't

Saturday was supposed to be my return to racing. I had signed up both my husband and me. My son was also going to be racing. I have been thinking about it all week looking forward to that post race feeling again. New Year's Eve my husband and I went out to dinner and a movie. We had flatbread pizza - I chose white pizza. Then we went to see True Grit which I would highly recommend. Near the end of the movie I felt rather uncomfortable but I thought I had just eaten too much. When we got home I went right to bed as I was feeling rather lousy. Well, it wasn't too long before I was jumping out of bed, racing to the bathroom and vomiting my insides out. This repeated itself a couple of times. My stomach muscles are killing me today, I guess I gave them quite a workout. It is now 6:00 P.M. and it is the first time I have sat up all day. There was no race for me! Hubby and son did it but I didn't even go cheer. The good news is my son (Jameson) had a great time and called to tell me he would be doing more races with me! I do not know of any other races in the area for January so I may already not be making my goal of a race a month. Oh well, it jump started my eating less for the New Year that is for sure!

i've been trying to get to your blog for like a week and kept getting an error, glad it worked today!! so sorry you got sick that is not a fun way to start the year, but maybe you were just getting all the crap out to have the best year ever :)

Well, way to go getting a head start on the rest of us in the weight-loss department! :)

Sorry that you got sick...but at least you didn't DNF because of something catastrophic like heel pain, which is where I thought you were going. So big yah to that at least. There'll be other races (did you sign up for the half marathon??) and though disappointing today for sure, you will be out there running strong again soon! I have NO doubt!!

Happy 2011, hope we have lots of great miles in 2011 and that we get to meet one another soon! And yes, I'd LOVE to come to Vermont, it's always been a dream (why are flts from Denver out East so dang pricy?? Grrr).

Hope you are feeling better now and that you will find a race, even if only virtual for January, the month is still young.

Oh no that is such an awful feeling. I'm really sorry to read that you didn't run your race. I'm glad you're sitting up and feeling a bit better. Good luck finding a race for January.

Oh, that is such a bummer!! I hope you're back to 100% soon and can find another "comeback" race in the next few weeks!

Oh man, bummer. But the cool thing is that there are so many, many other races to run. Wonder if you got a bad pizza? Is there such a thing? Anyway, glad you're feeling better. If you can sit, you can read, right?
Cheers,

What a pity. On the upside - you probably lost a little weight and that's always good. Hope you're feeling better soon.

I hope you are feeling better - you can come to UAlbany - there are races at varying distances on 1/9 and 1/23 - www.hmrrc.com - they are sponsored by the local running club.

Hope you feel better soon! There's a nice 16 mile race in Derry, NH on 1/23/11 called the Boston Prep 16 Miler. Hilly, but fun. Well organized, great food at the finish.

Sorry about you tummy issue. I've had to miss races due to injury and it sucks, especially if you've already ponied up for the entry fee.
