Goals 2011

Some of these goals are going to look very familiar if you read my 2010 goal review.

1. Stay uninjured and run smart!
2. Cross train especially in warmer weather. Don't forget what a friend the bike was to you when your feet failed you!
3. Improve 5K and 10K time throughout the year.
4. Race one race a month. At the same time don't race too many races.
5. Run in some new races.
6. Run/race in a new state.
7. Race in a marathon.
8. Run in at least two half marathons.
9. Race with family members.
10. Place in age group.
11. Be in top half of field.
12. Have one overall PR in any distance.
13. Race near the ocean.
14. Race with some bloggy buddies, old and new!
15. Secret goal- find a duathlon and race in it! Tell no one as when they see you show up on a mountain bike looking not one bit like a bike racer they may not let you enter! Be prepared to come in last.

I agree with those goals, although I've never run a marathon.
With regard to your 6th goal (Run/race in a new state), Stefano and I are planning to run the Berlin half marathon.

A great list. And love the secret one--you'll have a blast. We have a brand-new one here this August if you feel like a road trip!

Happy New Year, may all your goals come true. I'll be watching your race schedule to see if I can hook up to help you with goal #14.

Great goals ajh...so glad to see that your running continues to go well. As for the duathlon, I also plan on trying one in May. It's a 5K run, 20K bike ride, 5K run :) It's a bunch of loops. I'm totally prepared to come in last and that's fine with me. Can't wait to follow along as you complete your goals in 2011 :)

Hey! Great goals! There's a duathlon here in IL in April (Peanut Butter Duathlon, 2 mile run, 14 mile bike, 2 mile run) :) You can tackle goal 6 and 15 at one time! Andy heck, I might give it a try so throw goal 14 in there too!

Love this! You should come do the Newport Marathon on the Oregon coast for your ocean running. I think I've decided to to it...June 4th! But Oregon is such a cold coast...you might mean a warmer ocean. :) I'd like to try a Du or a Tri but I'm scared of the bike and swim so that doesn't leave me with much. :) Happy New Year. Hope to read more of your blog in the new year....I always see you around here in blog land and keep meaning to visit more often.

If you're looking for a du, then check out the Minneapolis Duathlon at the end of August. The race organizers don't care what kind of bike you use (you can even use a single speed with a bell on it), just as long as you're active and having a good time. Check out the link at http://www.teamortho.us

I enjoyed reading through your review of 2010. It was a pretty successful year, of course, except for the @$&#(%$ injury! I think you can definitely achieve all 14 of those goals in 2011. (I would comment on the secret goal, but it's a secret :). Here's wishing you have a fun and injury free 2011!!
